Past Club Chairpersons
Shortly after the Cragmont Climbing
Club was formed, the Club joined the Sierra Club to become the
Rock Climbing Section (RCS). The steering committee of the RCS
was elected at the annual June Dinner, and the Chair was chosen
by the Committee to be its head until the following June. In
1989 after rock climbing was restricted in the Sierra Club by
liability concerns, the Cragmont Climbing Club was reformed independent
of the Sierra Club to carry on our climbing activities. In the
(new) Cragmont Climbing Club the Chair is elected directly by
the membership. In 1991 the Club decided to elect Chairs at the
first of the year, rather than change leadership mid-season.
Thus prior to 1990 the dates below represent June to June years.
Stewart Proctor was Chair June to December 1990, and beginning
with John Gregson in 1991 the dates below represent full calendar
years.
