| War is as old and enduring as the ancient, mystical structure you see above. It has stood strong as a near force of nature throughout our history. Though perhaps it would be useful to note that it is not a force of nature, but a force of human nature. We stand now, as a country, and as a world, poised at the edge of a war that like all others seems clear and defined at it's inception, but whose direction none can foresee. Ask any military man and he will tell you quickly enough that the only true plan of action in war is to be prepared. I wish for the punishment and destruction of those who caused the death of so many innocent people as much as anyone, but as time has passed I have had cause to think about the nature of this whole situation. For some reason the immediate scapegoat that appeared to take the fall just doesn't ring true to me, but on the other hand the idea that some I have seen (at least on the web) profess; that the whole thing is some kind of orchestrated manuever by an elite group to set things in motion for their own ends doesn't quite hit the note of truth either. I can only state in my not particularly humble, but often wrong opinion, that the whole truth definitely isn't being put out there. Frankly, I'm not all that astute an individual, so it's my guess that there are an awful lot of you out there who are beginning to feel the need to question as well. I am usually the last to get the important stuff. I don't have any real agenda by posting this short essay, but I do ask one thing of you now that you have read it: QUESTION. Question whether what you see and hear in these coming months and years really makes sense to you. There is an old addage with regard to sales, that if a thing seems to be to good to be true. It is. I believe that when it comes to beliefs and opinions the same holds true. If the solution to complicated issues seems delivered to the doorstep of your mind as though just for your consumption. It is. Yet I feel the need to temper those words with these, the set up of any, any system of government is based upon a balance between Freedom and Safety. The more you gain of one, the more you sacrifice of the other. Which do you value more? Which for your children? Which for the children of others? |
