The interview portion gave even more enlightenment on the topic. It seems that most people said they were looking for more information because they had been thinking about getting a degree or an advanced degree for quite some time and now that they were older they did not feel the college life was something they could fit into at their age. Another issue was that they needed to get their education quickly, the typical 4 year Bachelor’s and 2-3 year Master’s degrees were not conducive to their career goals. When these people did not enroll in the school they were researching it was primarily because they had enrolled elsewhere. A common choice was online trade courses, another online school which was cheaper or occasionally a traditional college. The latter was not very common since the reasons that brought them to investigate were powerful motivators and when they did choose a traditional college it was usually through concerns about the validity of online education. It seems that no amount of discussion and demonstration of the benefits and validity of online education could persuade these away from the traditional route. The employees interviewed liked their school a lot as a university but they were very unhappy about the way their place of employment was managed since verbal abuse and goals set far too high were the normal mode of operation. About a third of the employees did attend their college and did so for the same reasons as the other OS they spoke to daily. The two thirds who did not said their reasoning is that they either had what they considered sufficient education or they felt their career was going just fine and they did not need the education.
