It's been a rough couple of weeks - I found out Superbowl Sunday that my old coach, Andy Palmer, died of a sudden heart attach while out running in Boone, NC. He was a good friend, coach, athlete, and one of the most wonderful people I've ever met in my life.
His memorial service was held in Boone, at his new training facility - ZapFitness. The facility was Andy's life-long dream and I am so happy he got to see it happen before he passed away. To all of you who look for a place to get away and train, you should check out the website - Zapfitness.com. He is survived by his wife and partner in life, Zika. We hope that she is able to keep the camp going and keep Andy's dream allive; and to do that, she will need athletes using the facilities. It may take some time for her to get back on her feet and get things running, but when she does, it would be the perfect get-away for anyone looking to focus on training - Boone is the perfect training paradise for anyone who likes to put in the miles - it's just gorgeous and really makes you want to run :-)
Andy taught me so much in the time I worked with him - he taught me patience, the value of rest, and of hard workouts. He taught me what it was to be a truely giving person, and he taught me that good things come to all who work at their dreams.
I will miss him terribly.
