There is one single ruler, the King, but his heir has power to some extent. Their are several religiouns, some even requiring sacrifices, but the most encouraged is the religion that likens the King to God.
Under the King are several baronies that look after the land for the King, and fairly much rule it as they wish. Under these barons, the rest of the people (about eighty percent) are peasants who work on the lands.
Servants are more than common but fortunately slavery was recently abolished.
Excelsion weapons are heavily developed and its army is quite large, possibly as large as the armies of two countries combined. It is the goal of many peasant boys to join this army as it is an escape from the servantude they would otherwise have to endure.
Drugs are also a favourite in Excelsior, the barons enjoy taking them but also it is a popular way of killing of the opposition.
Crime is also fairly rampart, especially among the cities, and many are certain Excelsior is home to the famous thieve's guild.
