| The History of Masyarana's Wishing Well. |
| Whether the well is named after the Goddess of Luck herself of the beautiful temptress of the same name is continually under debate. The writer thinks probably both. Truth be told, the wishing well has stood in Evinar long before it was named after woman or God. In past times it was a source of water for the village but was eventually replaced by several larger wells for the thriving population. But Masyarana, never has there been such a woman. So many names; Temptress, Seductress, Masyarana the Saint, Masyarana the God Killer. Born of magick blood she was both blessed and cursed by the Gods. She was amazingly beautiful, amazingly nimble and amazingly strong with dark eyes that pierced one's very soul. Masyarana instantly became a leader to her people. She gave them hope that one day the brutal, uncaring upper class would be overthrown by the power of the people. They lent their hearts to her as Masyarana seduced her way to the top of the hierarchy until she had the King himself wrapped around her little finger. The King's wife, however, was no so pleased. Queen Arbidastra was not an evil woman but the hurt and shame of being thrown from her husband's bed induced a powerful rage within her. Arbidastra took her loyal armies and began her campaign against Masyarana and her people. For nearly a year the war raged without the King taking sides but eventually he knew he had to and it was Masyarana herself who played the move, forcing him to decide. By now the King was so wound up in Masyarana that it was she he pledged his armies to, despite his continued love for his wife. Arbidastra withdrew, but the hate only intensified inside her. Her anger fueled her to turn to the dark arts. Delving into black magic, she wreaked her final revenge on Masyarana. She sent Masyarana insane. In a final battle to end the war, Arbidastra blasted the full force of her talents apon the woman's mind, driving her to madness. Only moments later Arbidastra was killed by her own husband and his sword to her heart. On that day, the ancient King lost both of the women he loved. Masyarana survived to travel the lands, completing whatever wicked deed took her fancy at the time. She murdered those in power and became herself so powerful in the world of magic that even the Gods themselves feared her. She was MAsyarana the God Killer and destroyer of the great god Kane, of the second moon. She was lover only to death. The Gods banded together, mourned their lost brother and cursed Masyarana. All but one, Masyarana's namesake. She watched the woman with intense loyalty. It was the Goddess of Luck herself who suggested to the rest of the Gods that they take their own revenge on the woman by giving her back her sanity. It was then that Masyarana came to Evinar, wreaked with self-pity and self-loathing she dragged herself here as a wreck washed apon the shores. In Evinar she turned to the one thing she had left; the Goddess of Luck, and here everyday she would journey to the wishing well to pray to the only God not intent on her destruction. The Goddess Masyarana heard her calls, and finally answered the woman's prayers. After years of pain and torture, Masyarana found peace of mind apon the rocks, at the bottom of the cliff where Masyarana's wishing well stands. |
