	It was the great alchemist-wizard Lawson who once stated about the God Kane, "So much gets written about what we know so little of." True of this speculation, Kane is possibly one of the most well known and debated Gods of the Golden Rule, despite few known facts. His life and followers have been elevated to such heights of interest because unlike any other, Kane is the only God known to have achieved death. Despite this, there are some concrete facts regarding Kane. It is known, for instance, that Kane was the God of the Second Moon. It is also well recorded in history that at the death of Kane, his priest underwent a transformation that ultimately turned them to werewolves. Perhaps it is a result of this mass polymorphing that has lead to such a great loss of information regarding Kane, for certainly had Kane's priests survived, we would have today more preserved information about the God. The important thing to remember when discussing the various theories regarding the God of the Second Moon is that ideas are cheap...... Evidence will probably make you stupendously rich. The most common theory regarding Kane is that he was the God of the Netherworld. That all creatures of magic belong to his worship, and since his death, have been disappearing from this world at an alarming rate. The disappearance of creatures magical is a 'witnessed' phenonomen. The number of such creatures recorded in past documents are significantly higher than in more recent years, though it should be remembered that such information does not provide a cause and effect relationship. In fact it does not even guarantee any relationship to the death of Kane. Ancient historical texts, however, may also suggest a far greater grasp of the magics in times past. Whilst few magi of today would care to admit it, many of these texts express the use of spells far beyond the powers of even the best wizard today. If we are to be objective though, one could also point out there was possibily much embellishment in these tales. A greater current day organised scientific body of magi may also have rendered much of what used to be called 'magic' as otherwisely explainable. Regardless of the flaws in this view of Kane, we will continue in the assumption that this theory is actually correct, being the most popular, and (if you'd seen some of the theories that floated my way, you'd agree) most probable of theories. The idea of a 'Netherworld' is a more recent expression. In the past, 'netherworld' creatures activities were considered a normal and natural occurence however Kane's death is supposed to have created a large hole between plains of existence so that each year the world experiences a loss of magical energy into another realm. As this process continues, the natural world possesses less and less magical energies, and this other realm gains more and more. As netherworld creatures are creatures of magic that require these energies to perform a number of basic survival activities, the overall result is that this other realm becomes more and more attractive to these creatures and the natural realm less and less so. Hence, it is a matter of survival that netherworld creatures migrate to this other realm each other year, leaving the natural realm with fewer and fewer of them. Whilst many of you might wonder whether this is really such a huge problem, as netherworld creatures are notorious for creating more problems than solving them, there are a number of concerns attached to this possibility. Magics play a important role in important and fundamental areas of everyday life. Most of today's medicine and healing techniques rely primarily on magical means. Many scientific study styles would also suffer from such a loss, though perhaps this is less likely to inspire the common peasant to fight in the name of magic. A secondary concern focuses on the number of magically imbued persons present in the natural realm, which has significantly lessoned in recent years. The silent halls of Koptamland's Museum of National Treasures is only one example of our disappearing numbers. The problem facing magi today is, is this phenonomen due to a similar loss of magi to this other realm, taking their magical ancestry with them, or does the overall loss of magical energies reduce the number of people who can reach a magic potential that is large enough to be able to call themselves 'magi'. Potentially the second theory is more frightening than the first, as it represents absolutely no possibility of enticing some magi to remain in the natural realm to continue their magics. It may be important to remember that scientific evidence does suggest magic will soon, if not already, become a very valuable commodity. Many point out that extensive and exhaustive magics are already a thing of the rich. Commoners may see the everyday village 'herbwoman' or equivalent, but true healing of critical wounds are reserved for those with the money to afford them. As the value of a commodity increases when it is not only high in demand, but also low in supply, this may be yet another indicator of the disappearance of magics. Why then, you ask, if creatures of magic are disappearing so fast, are werewolves never in short supply. They are one of few creatures that seem to remain, and constantly make a pest of themselves. In fact, werewolves are such a notorious nuisance that the royalty of not only Brigart, but also Yrel, Sei and The Districts have commissioned specific groups with the goal of eradicating these monsters. "Were-killer" is also considered a moderately paid occupation in Koptamland and Lorne. The problems with werefolk is that to propogate the species, it simply takes a werewolf bite upon any victim, willing or not. Once done, the force of were runs through the victims blood until he or she is overcome with the were. Werefolk are also pass unnoticed by the general public in everyday life as they look no different from any other person except on nights of the full or new moon. At this time, werefolk are transformed into their wolven form. The one exception to this is those forementioned Priests of Kane. The Priests of Kane are supposed to undertake the opposite transformation, spending the majority of their life in were form but taking the appearance of normal folk on nights of the full moon. This idea is most favourable to scholars of little magical knowledge as it shows more obviously to their untrained eyes that no nett loss of magic occurs but travels between the two processes. (Magic cannot be created nor destroyed, only channeled into various forms. Crudely, what goes in, must come out.) However at any one time it could not be said that there are as many Priests of Kane as there were other werefolk, so this magic channeling could not be even and thus a great amount of magical energies must go somewhere else. This may account for the 'air' that surrounds a full moon, where magical energies are forced to search the natural realm for whatever possible secondary transformation they might take to revert back to its stable form. Encountering a large amount of unstable magical energies might be what causes unmagical entities to feel an 'eerieness' on the nights of full moons and provide a striving force for the magical entities, who tend to feel an energetic rush on these nights to make great use of their magical abilities - nature's way of maintaining the balance. So why, many wonder, did the Priests of Kane become such violent creatures in his passing? Since Kane's animal symbol was that of the wolf, it is speculated that Kane's passing caused an insanity to fester in his Priests and infuse them with the desire to kill so that they might take revenge for his death and provide a constant reminder of the punishment in destroying a God. Kane's Priests became warped into that of his animal, and spend their lives supposedly trying to hunt down Kane's murderer, Masyarana, Kane's murdurer. Unfortunately for them this will never happen as Masyarana is believed to have killed herself by throwing herself off the well known as Masyarana's wishing well in the Moorjan town of Evinar. With no retribution in Kane's name, his Priests (and their were followers) are forced to continue their hunt into eternity, and it is this hunt that keeps them bound to the natural realm.
