Danielle was born 3 weeks early on August 25,  1999.  She weighed  4lbs and was  16 inches in length.  At  7 days old she rode in an ambulance, taken to neonatal intensive care for one weeks worth of observation and tests.  Why?  Well,  she stopped breathing  long enough turn blue and terribily scare her parents.  Luckily, that was her one and only episode of apnea.

As a result of the tests taken during her hospital stay,  she was diagnosed with
Velo-Cardio-Facial Syndrome.
The diagnoses was given to us January,  2000 by  Marilyn Jones,M.D. ( Director  Dysmorphology  and Genetics- Children's Hospital, San Diego, Ca.)
Fortunately, Danielle does not have any of the critical conditions associated with the syndrome.  We are blessed that thus far she has only had  one surgery.  The  surgery was  performed  in March 2001, to correct the webbing of two fingers on her right hand.   Also, the skin from her ear tags was used  to complete  the hand surgery.
