| Step 1: Solving the top | |||||||||||||||||||
| The first step of solving the cube is getting all of the top pieces in. I usually start with the white side because it's the easiest one to pick out. Getting the top side right doesn't just mean getting the top to be one color. The top peices also have to be in the right places. In other words, the top row also has to be right. | |||||||||||||||||||
| This is correct. Notice that the colors of the top row match the middle peices. | |||||||||||||||||||
| This is wrong - the top row is all mixed up. | |||||||||||||||||||
| The first row is pretty straight forward and is the only step that you actually have to think about. Sit down with the cube and try it for a while. Remember that you don't have to worry about the rest of the cube - only the top. Here are some pointers: 1) Do the top piece by piece, start with the four middle pieces and the do the four corners. 2) With every piece, place the piece on the bottom so that you only have to make one turn to get it in the right place on the top, move all the pieces that you've done so far out of the way (so that they won't get wrecked by placing the new piece), place the new piece on the top, and then swing back the pieces that you moved out of the way. 3) Don't worry about messing up the rest of the cube! You should be able to to the top by yourself but if you still are having trouble then go to this great site: |

| Once you've finished the first step it is time to go on to step two! To do this step you just have to know one easy move! | |||||||||||||||||||
