In the book of Daniel Chapter 9, we find that immediately after the supplication of Daniel, the angel Gabriel told him the future events concerning the Jews, the Temple of God and Jerusalem.
"Seventy weeks are determined for your people and for your holy city, to finish the transgression, to make an end of sins, to make reconciliation for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy." Dan 9:24
Daniel was told that God would need 70 weeks (i.e. 70 x 7 = 490 years) to deal with the Jews, and the Holy city of Jerusalem, preparing them: -

to finish transgression - sins forgiven by the blood of the Lamb. |

to make an end to sins - holiness by the cleansing with the Word of God. |
|
to make reconciliation for iniquity - peace with God through Christ. |
|
to bring in everlasting righteousness - kingdom of God on earth. |
|
to seal up vision and prophecy - fulfillment of all prophecies. |
|
to anoint the Most Holy - Jesus Christ anointed as their `Messiah'. |
"Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the command to restore and build Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince, there shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublesome times. And after the sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself;" Dan 9:25-26a
Daniel was told that from the command of Cyrus, the King of Persia to restore and rebuild Jerusalem to its completion would be 7 weeks. From the completion of rebuilding Jerusalem to the Messiah's death, which was for the salvation of mankind to those who believe, would be another 62 weeks. This will take a total of 69 weeks leaving God a week (the missing week) more to finish His work above.
Note: Since then, the Jews lost their position as the `people of God', until all godly Christians are taken back to heaven at Rapture. After which, will begin the last (or missing) seven years for God to deal with the Jews.
"But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near. Then let those in Judea flee to the mountains, let those who are in the midst of her depart, and let not those who are in the country enter her. For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! For there will be great distress in the land and wrath upon this people. And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled." Luke 21:20-24
Just prior to Rapture, the Antichrist who will be popular with the people (all the Arab nations) will trample Jerusalem underfoot and disperse the Jews to surrounding nations.
"and the people of the prince who is to come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end of it shall be with a flood, and till the end of the war desolations are determined." Dan 9:27b
With the people's power, the Antichrist will conquer Jerusalem and remove the el aqsa mosque. In order to deceive the Jews and Christians, he will allow the Jews to build the temple of God in its place. He will be highly successful in deceiving the Jews and Christians until the Rapture (till the end desolations are determined) by destroying their salvation.
Note: Just after Rapture will be the period of the wrath of Satan. The Beast will sign a 7 year treaty with all the neighboring nations to allow the Jews to come back to Jerusalem and worship in the temple of God built by them. Midway through the treaty, the sacrifices in the temple will be stopped.
After the Rapture, God will perform His final deliverance of Jerusalem prior to His second coming.
And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which faces Jerusalem on the east. And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two, from east to west, making a very large valley; half of the mountain shall move toward the north and half of it toward the south. Then you shall flee through My mountain valley, for the mountain valley shall reach to Azal. Zech 14:4-5
And this shall be the plague with which the LORD will strike all the people who fought against Jerusalem: their flesh shall dissolve while they stand on their feet, their eyes shall dissolve in their sockets, and their tongues shall dissolve in their mouths. Zech 14:12
Final deliverance of Jerusalem will be at the Battle of Armageddon, where our Lord Jesus will stand on Mount Olives to destroy all the surrounding enemies by the brightness of His glory 7 years after Rapture.
"For seven months the house of Israel will be burying them, in order to cleanse the land. Indeed all the people of the land will be burying them, and they will gain renown for it on the day that I am glorified," says the Lord GOD. "They will set apart men regularly employed, with the help of a search party, to pass through the land and bury those bodies remaining on the ground, in order to cleanse it. At the end of seven months they will make a search. The search party will pass through the land; and whenever anyone sees a man's bone, he shall set up a marker by it, till the buriers have buried it in the Valley of Hamon Gog." Ezek 39:12-15
It will take the Jews 7 months to bury the dead bodies after the battle of Armageddon. Thus the 2nd Coming of the Lord will be about 8 years after Rapture.
The last 7 years of the Jews
For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: "The Deliverer will come out of Zion, and He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob; For this is My covenant with them, when I take away their sins." Rom 11:25-27
God can only consider the Jews as His people once again after the Rapture (the fullness of the Gentiles has come in - completion of the period of Grace). No further salvation of Gentiles is possible after the Rapture. Unfortunately, the first part (3 1/2 years) of this period is the period of the wrath of Satan
At Rapture (the death of the Antichrist), will see the beginning of the last 7 years (week) for God to deal with the Jews, who will then once again become the people of God as Christians. God's presence will then be in the Temple of God.
