4 Battalions were formed in the Summer of 1942 from non-mobilised local people (militia units). They were organised on 2-7 companies with light infantry armament. Other 5 Battalions were formed in July 1943 (28.10.43 ?). On 2.9.44 their average strength was of 740 men.
