Dan Fitzgerald was born in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn, New York, in 1957. He is a twin, and he and his five brothers were all born within eight years of each other. He attended high school in Long Island and Pennsylvania. In 1982, he graduated with a B.A. in Philosophy from Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania. He has spent the intervening years learning his trade. Dan has been a vegetarian since 1984, but he feels strongly that his own personal choices are his own, and isn't interested in making anyone else follow his morality. His twin brother died of a drug overdose in 1989, and he regards the drug war as a total failure. He chose to come to Oregon with his ex-wife so that she could attend the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, the oldest and the finest naturopathic medical school in the world. Dan feels deeply honored and privileged to have had the opportunity to serve and support his ex-wife in this endeavor. |
