| The St. Francis on the left was the next attempt of humans, carved about 20 years ago in 1985. Between, 1975 and 1985 I carved only animals. I don't have any pictures of them. They were all given as gifts. I didn't carve a human form again until 2000. Between 1985 and 2000, I was lucky to carve 10 animal projects. However, in 2000, I made a committment that I would begin to carve seriously. I took lessons from a skilled carver who now lives in Colorado. After making many study sticks of... eyes, noses, and mouths. I carved the moutain man with his guidance on the right. I thought I would keep it since it was my "first" but, I have since sold it! |

| Shortly after carving the mountain man bark above, I carved on my own, the indian from cottonwood bark below. I found that carving bark was very enjoyable and I wanted to carve another face quick before I forgot how I did the mountain man above. I made a reduced size model using Sculpy clay before I carved the indian. The bark indian was carved in early 2001. Again, I thought that I would "save" him, however he too has since been sold!! | ||||||||||||||||||||
