My King pins wouldn't take grease and the steering gaiters were both torn, so I decided to redo bushings, with rebuilt king pin/swivel axles and redo the gaiters.  I put on rebuilt shocks.  As a novice I decided to take some pictures in case they might help someone else later on.
For background I read on websites(MGB experience) and in the Workshop manual. A new book I like is by Auto-Doc, "Your Expert Guide to MGB &MGB GT" by Roger Williams.  The pictures below show how I did the car stands, jacks and safety rope on the springs.  I did not have any trouble with the springs flying around doing it this way.

Bench grinder used to groove the distance pin, a hole was drilled through the groove to allow grease to the bolt. Distance pin with grease groove and hole drilled, after the style of Tom Bedenbaugh
Left hand spring pan with lower king pin in place, grease in spring pan spring retainer.

I added a 3/4 inch sway bar with the Moss kit, harder to fit than I thought, but it worked out well.
Thanks to the MGB experience website for all of the advice, and hand holding.   Test drive, considering the conditions, went very well.

I decided to add a front sway bar, so I put on the Moss 3/4 inch kit on Jan 23, 04.  It was harder to fit on than it should have been, but turned out ok after a couple of hours.  The handling is much more sure footed with the bar on.
