So you wanna be a Dane?

Here is the key information to use in making your decision...

Roster

We will be supporting two teams in 2004 (18U and 16U).  These teams will include a total of 32 players.  Our roster has traditionally included players from throughout the states of WI, northern IL, and the Twin Cities, MN.  We have graduated 80% of our players to NCAA softball and the majority of our players are looking to play softball in college.

We return players from the following communities:

Wisconsin - Black River Falls, Colby, Marathon, Medford, Menomonie, Pepin, Seymour, Stoddard

Minnesota - Champlin, Duluth, Eden Prairie, Hastings, Inver Grove Heights, Lakeville, Minneapolis, St. Anthony Villiage, St. Paul

For more information, please see our Roster page.

Costs

One of the unfortunate realities of "elite" athletics is that there is a high expense that is passed on to the player.  The Danes are no different, although we are willing to work with players and parents to decrease the expenses.   .

Our budget is estimated to be around $30,000.00 in 2004.  This is the largest budget of any WI based travel team and probably puts us in the top 10% nationwide.

Players Fees cover tournament fees, insurance, uniforms, and hotel rooms and will be $650.00 per player.  We realize that this is expensive, however we can assure you that it is worth it.

We look for parents and players to help organize fundraisers and solicit donations to offset the high player costs that are associated with the Danes.

In 2002 we have successful obtained IRS Non-Profit Status by creating the Danes Travel Softball Association, a non-profit coorporation.

Certification, Eligibility, and Insurance

The Danes compete with ASA, AFA, and PONY organizations.

Any players born on/after January 1, 1985 will be eligible to play 18 & Under in 2003.
Any players born on/after January 1, 1987 will be eligible to play 16 & Under in 2003.

We are required to carry insurance and it covers us throughout our summer and fall seasons, as well as our off-season clinics.

So how do I get to be a Dane?

We do not have tryouts, as an elite team we rely on the recomendations of other coaches and our current players.   We aggresively monitor local newspapers and high school softball for "leads" on players who may be dominating in their area.  We focus on finding players who are team focuses, strong athletes and mature in nature.  We also recieve many e-mails from players interested in the Danes.  If you'd like to be considered for a Danes Roster Spot, send an e-mail to [email protected] with the following information:
