About Me ...

My name is Dan and I'm 42yrs old at the time of writing this page, currently I reside in the Midwest of the United States.

I bought my first computer back in 1993, it was a Pentium 75Mhz with a whopping 16MB of memory and an ungodly huge 730MB Hard Drive, after years of loading msdos and windows I decided that I should be fixing PC's for a living, I went to school and earned my degree in Microcomputer Support and Network Administration, I worked in a local computer shop as a technician where I fixed roughly 3000 PC's, I currently work as an IT Manager.

What does Canis Minor mean?, well Canis Minor is Latin for little dog, and since it's been about 10 years since I last played chess I thought I was like the little dog who hopes to one day become one of the big dogs. Astronomy is one of my hobbies and that's where I got the name Canis Minor, Canis Minor is a small constellation and represents one of the dogs following Orion the Hunter, Canis Minor is actually the smaller of the two dogs following Orion.

As for Chess ...I'm a hobby player who borders on being obsessed with the game, I've got plenty of books, PC software, and chess instructional videos to prove this. Currently I'm playing on www.chesshere.com, I by no means think I'm a strong chess player but I do know that there are plenty of worse players out there then myself. What I like about Chess so much is the complexity of the game, openings, middlegame, and endgame, tactical and positional players, and of course a wealth of historical games that a chess fan could spend multiple lifetimes learning from and enjoying, we chess fans are most definitely blessed.

"Results show that just one year of chess tuition will improve a student's learning abilities, concentration, application, sense of logic, self-discipline, respect, behavior and the ability to take responsibility for his/her own actions."

Garry Kasparov
World Chess Champion
