BRITISH INVASION

One of the greatest social and cultural movements of  the sixties is the musical british invasion with the Beatles leading. Suddenly England became the epicenter of the universe!!

SOME OF THE GROUPS MOST REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 60's BRITISH INVASION ARE:

THE BEATLES

They're great! Their music is played everywhere. All the world is talking about them...it's like a kind of mania. Yes! It's the Beatlemania.
John Lennon, Paul Mc Cartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr form the Beatles. They arrive the US in Febrary 1964 and after conquer America are taking the entire world.
The Beatles opened the doors to another excellent bands from England. It's the begginnig of the invasion

THE ROLLING STONES

This group is considered the mainly competition of the Beatles. Wilder and with tough songs,the Stones
took the world by surprise,surprise.
Their greatest hit "Satisfaction",masterly sung by Mick Jagger, the vocalist, shows the frustation of our times,and the frustation of us, the youth.

THE WHO

This group from Shepherds Bush reflex the rage of My Generation, smashing his guitar, Pete Townshend shows it all.All their gigs ends in catastrofe, amplies broken,micros and drumskits completely destroyed.
With the rude voice of their vocalist Roger Daltrey,the awesome bass line of John Entwistle and the unique way of playing the drums of Keith Moon,the Who is the perfect representation of the mods.

THE KINKS

With their extraordinary hits "You really got me" and "All day and all of the night" The Kinks are considered another great British band from Muswell hills in London.
Leading is Ray Davies whose extraordinary compositions make him a true urban poet.
And the  awesome guitar of his brother Dave, makes the Kinks one of the most exciting groups of the invasion

THE ANIMALS

This group from Newcastle is one fo the wildest in the musical scenes. Theri roots are R&B.
With his rouge voice, Eric Burdon express the feelings of our generation, the scare to remain as prisoners of our own reality. This is shown very well with songs like "We gotta get out of this place" and "The house of the rising sun".

THE YARDBIRDS

Another R&B group which has been school for mega guitar players like Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimi Page.
The Yarbirds is an explosion of creativity, awesome guitar ans harmonica solos and a lot of improvisation.
The Yardbirds...one of the most amazing groups in Britain!

THE SMALL FACES

Along with the Who, the Small Faces is another mod style group. They're always avant-garde and
they show  our mid-sixties London society.
Steve Marriott with his softly-wildly voices has given the Small Faces their own disctintive trademark.
Some of their greatest hits are "All or hothing"  "Itchycoo Park" and "Sha la la lee", among others

THE TREMELOES

Although the Tremeloes have been into the music scene for years, they are one of the most popular groups of the decade. First with his vocalist Brian Poole they had  one of the biggest  hits of 1963 with "Do you love me ?"
After Poole left the band they continue having sucess with great songs like: "Silence is Golden" and the happy "Even the bad times are good" both in 1967.

THE HOLLIES

Another great group of the invation, whose mainly characterist is the glorious harmonies they made with their voices.
With great pop hits like "I'm alive" and "Bus stop" this group from Manchester  have a well deserved special site into the musical scene of England and  U.S

HERMAN'S HERMITS

The most famous of the Pop bands. Their song's lyrics talk about the first love,boys meet girls and another softie ballads like "I'm into something good" and "Can you hear my heartbeat?"
Peter Noone,their leader is widely know as "Herman" and is the "dream date" of any teenage girl.
They're the kings of the happy teenage songs.
