This is the part where I actually make little wax men. Sort of.

The latex mold tied on to the tubular metal reservoir.

The mold is filled with wax, and the heat gun is keeping the wax molten. Nothing could possibly ever go wrong.

The latex is removed from the wax, which as it turns out is a fairly good copy of the original barring a small bubble on his back.
Unfortunately, the latex mold hasn't survived perfectly. If you look closely at the "neck" of the wax head, you can see peices of the latex that were torn out of the mold when it was removed. Plus, it has been streched.

The tube is heated and pulled off the wax.

A closer look at the latex residue.

I tried another casting of the wax with the same mold, but since it had streched, when I finally got it into the plaster, it had folded over. Needless to say, the younger brother is not the pretty one.

A comparison between the wood and the wax. They are actually the same size, I just wasn't holding the wooden one at the right angle.

Detail of the unfortunate deformity of what is affectionately known as the "horror of easter island".
I really intended to get more than one head out of this. I was dissapointed when I found out that what I had taken for omnipotence early on in the process was in fact just some half digested beans.
I shall persevere. (Shakes fists at the gods).
