| Chapter Seven |
| Abs: It had been a few days since my second date with Teresa. I was much more pleased with the ending of that one. I still never got a chance to find out what that whole running out of my flat thing was all about...weird. I picked up the phone out of the blue and dialed her number. I got a recording "Hey, this is Teresa. I'm most likely home but I never pick up the phone in time. I'm betting that I just fell on something trying to get the phone. When you get to the beep scream for a bit and I might pick up. If by chance I'm actually not home, I'll listen to your message later and laugh at you but leave your number-" The message stopped as Teresa picked up "Hello? Hello?" she said sounding like she had run to the phone. "Teresa? It's Abs" "Oh, Hey! What's up?" she said with more enthusiam. "Nothing really, I was just thinking about you and how I haven't seen you in the halls.." "Aw, that's so sweet. It's a bit strange that we haven't run into eachother in the halls isn't it?" she laughed. "I'm surprised you're home. I figured you'd be at work" "I could say the same about you" she replied after a minute. "Hey are you busy now? Maybe we could- I heard a soft beep. "Could you hold on love? I've got another call" "Sure" I clicked over, "Hello?" "Abs! It's Chris. We're having a little meeting to discuss a few things. It won't take too long, can you come down?" I sighed, "You've got some pretty bad timing Chris, I was just going to ask my neighbor out for coffee" "Sorry Abs, I didn't know. You could bring her if you want, there's nothing too official to discuss" "Alright cool" I replied. "See you soon, bye" Chris said as he hung up. I clicked back over, "Rease? You still there?" "Yeah, still here" "Look, that was my manager. I've got to go down there for a meeting now and-" she cut me off "Say no more, I'll let you go, I know you're a busy guy" "Actually, I was going to ask if you'd like to come. I mean, it might be a bit of a bore but we could do something afterwards if you'd like" "I dunno..." she said uncertainly. "C'mon...I'll take you out for coffee afterwards. Better yet, I'll buy you ice cream" "It's okay for me to come?" she asked, seeming more open to the idea. "Yeah, my manager suggested it." "Well, I guess I'll meet you in the hall then" she laughed. Teresa: I felt sort of guilty, accepting Abs's invitation to accompany him in a meeting. I mean, chances are I'd hear things that they would not want someone working for a tabloid mag to hear. Thinking of my job just made me ask myself bitter questions again. Why was I put on a tabloid magazine? What made Randy send one of his best writers halfway round the world to be a gossip writer? And lastly; Why did Abs have to be so damn charming? At the meeting I was greeted by the 4 other lads I had met at the dance tryouts. "Ah, so you're the girl that made Abs miss out on going to the pub with us the other night" J said. I turned to Abs, "Oh Abs you should've gone!" "Nah," he said as we sat down, "had too nice of a time with you" he smiled and held my hand. During the meeting there were loads of things mentioned that I'm sure my boss would've loved to hear. Things that could've helped his other employees with their articles. I pretended I didn't hear a word. Bill didn't know I was here and he didn't need too. "I think that's about it....I know I'm forgetting something.." Chris said, snapping me out of my 'I can't hear you' mind frame. "Oh! I remember. There's a new mag set to come out called Behind The Scenes and it's all about featuring artists and digging up all the dirt possible on them. My sources tell me that one of their debut victims could be you guys. So you might want to watch out" Abs squeezed my hand and whispered, "Guess I'll have to be extra careful then, unless you want to be on the front page of that mag with the headline saying we're getting married" he laughed and winked at me. I smiled weakly at him in return. Yeah, too bad the hand you're holding is the same hand that will help type up the cover-article... Chapter Eight... |
