Chapter Eight
Teresa:  My boss had been having me work non-stop for almost a week. He said I should be working hard on my notes and start collecting them into an article. I could barely work, I was too miserable. I was tempted to up and go back to America, but I realized I no longer have a job there. When I walked into my flat I threw my stuff down and plopped unto the couch. Next to me, my answering machine was flashing. Oh no, Bill found more work for me I thought to myself as I pushed play. But it wasn't Bill, it was Abs. "Rease! REASE! Ya there? Hello?!?.....Well I guess you're not home. And you're probably laughing at me as promised" I made myself stop laughing as he continued, "If you're free tonight, the lads and I are going dancing at their ladies request, want to come? Call me" I sighed to myself. Abs was so great. I shouldn't go. There was no need, business wise. Why should he suffer anymore? Despite the persistent arguements of my mind my heart made me pick up the phone and dial his number. " Allo?" answered Abs's thick accent. "Abs, it's Teresa" I heard him laugh, "Well of course it's you, how many other Americans have my phone number?" "Oh yeah." I said, laughing with him. "I hope you called to accept my invitation to go dancing" Abs said hopefully. Again my mind shot me warning signals say no say you're busy "I don't know Abs, I-" "Aw, you can't desert me." he interupted. " I'll be all alone with all the lads and their girls" I bit my lip, but Abs continued, "Do you want me to beg? 'cause I will. pleeeeeeeeeaaasssssssseeeee!" I laughed in spite of myself. "If you want, I'll come over and beg in person" He was too cute, I caved. "No, that's alright. I'll go."

*~*~*Later that day*~*~

Ritchie: I was dancing with Nikki when I saw Abs and that new  girl he liked come in. "Let's go say hi"  Nikki gave me a kiss, "But I love this song" I rolled my eyes jokingly, "You love every song" She just laughed and followed me off the dance floor. "Hey Abs! And, Terri right?" I said once we got over to the group. "Hey man, no this is Teresa, not Terri" "Sorry" I apolizgized. Abs just continued, "Teresa do you remember Rich?" She smiled at me, "Of course, I've seen him twice before" she laughed, "Women remember things" "Yeah but men don't" Nikki piped up. The two laughed together. "I'm Nikki by the way, since this guys's not going to introduce me" she said as she shoved me. "Oh I know who you are. Everyone knows Nikki Taylor, even Americans. You're an excellent singer, it's great to meet you." Nikki just waved her hand and said, "Well tonight, I'm not a popstar. Me and you, we're just two girls trying to deal with these guys" They laughed some more then Abs took Teresa to meet the rest of the lads's girls.

Abs: Teresa and I were once again in my flat, just talking. "You should come with us more often. You're a great dancer, I can't believe you didn't make it as one of ours" I complimented. She just shook her head, "No, I haven't danced professionally in a long time. And you know why I didn't make it as one of yours. Do you not recall my lack of grace?" "Well, whatever you say. It was just nice to get you to come. You haven't been around" "I've been at work" she answered offhandly. "What is it you do anyway?" I said, realizing that besides her dance tryout, I had no idea what she did. She looked a bit uncomfortable. "What?" I said kissing her. In between my kisses I said, "Are you in a stage show maybe?" I kissed her some more, "Work is nothing to be ashamed of." She pushed me away. "You have no idea" she said vaguely. "I just...I'm so sorry" she stammered as she stood up and headed for the door. I stood up, "wait, where are you going? What's the matter?" She just gave me a sad look and walked out. I fell back unto the couch. This was the second time our date had ended this way. What did I do? Then I noticed something on the couch next to me. Some kind of business card. I picked it up and couldn't believe what it said.
