| Upon arriving at Bapaume, the battle has already been raging for a couple of days. The death toll for both sides is increasing daily, and you become nervous for your own life. You all head towards the trenches and put any personal belongings that you may have left inside one of the dugouts, while remembering that today is Friday the 13th. You take out your picture of you family, and you kiss it hoping that someday you will be able to return to them. But, unfortunately, while you are inside your dugout, a shell comes blasting through the roof killing many people in and around it. You yourself are not killed, only seriously injured, and a corporal comes running into what is left of the dugout to see if anyone is still alive. He sees you and manages to pull you out of the rubble alive. The corporal then orders another soldier to take you over to the field hospital, where you stay for a few days, but soon you are moved to the Royal Free Hospital in London, England. |
