We are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the park. We have also completed two try-its so far: manners and her story. The girls also independently work on other try-its. Each have completed an average of 4 try-its a piece. We are all anticipating a great year in Girl Scouts. Brownie Troop 945: This troop is working on their My Community try-it. They are also getting a penpal troop that they will write as soon as they are assigned the penpal troop to correspond with. Junior Troop 541: This troop has 2nd and 3rd year Juniors and first year Juniors. The 2nd and 3rd year Scouts are working on the community and toymaker badges. To earn these badges, they have been busy. They planted a tree at their elementary school, collected foods for a local pantry, made bookmarks for a childrens reading group at their public library and learned about fire safety from their local fire dept. Some of the things they have done to earn the toymaker badge is they each made a wooden doll house, made their own board game and a toy out of recycled material. The 1st year Juniors are working on the dance and prints and graphics badges. All the Juniors from this group, enjoy painting and doing Arts and crafts. Various dancers have come to their meetings and demonstrated their dance steps for these girls. This troop also participated in their community Christmas parade. Junior Troop 399: This troop is working very hard to earn their Bronze Award. The girls have each earned 16 hours a piece towards their Bronze Award in Community Service. They helped at a Food pantry in their community. They also had a canned food drive and accumulated 35 cans of food for the pantry. They have participated in Operation Christmas Child where they had to fill shoeboxes with things for children overseas. The girls bought the stuff for the shoeboxes with their own money. Then they got sponsers to help with the shipping and handling. The girls filled 8 boxes to send overseas. The girls also participated in the Cuddlers for Kids in Crisis campaign by donating stuffed animals, putting a box for stuffed animals at their school and made Christmas ornaments for the Girl Scout Christmas tree. They have earned their sign of the rainbow, Sign of the Star, are working right now on the Sign of the World, and will work on the Sign of the Sun when they finish the Sign of the World. The girls have become totally community oriented by doing various service projects. By doing this, they are working on the My Community badge and the High on Life badge.
