| We are Jr. and Cadette Troop 79. 3 girls have bridged to Cadettes so we now have a combination troop of Jrs. and Cadettes. We just got back from our trip to Savannah, Georgia and Tybee Island Beach. The first day we toured the Girl Scout Headquarters of Savannah, Georgia and did a workshop related to how Juliette Low played when she was a child. They made paper dolls, learned first aid and played games. They also earned the GA. Juliette Low badge and received a participation badge also. We also toured the John the Baptist Cathedral which was awesome inside and out. It was beautiful! We walked along the Savannah River and watched the boats coming in and out. We ate at the Pirates' House that evening and had the best service and food ever! It was delicious. Especially the Mississippi Mud Cake! After the Pirates' House we went on a Horse and Carriage Ghost ride which the girls loved! The weather couldn't have been more perfect the whole week.--We had no rain and it was beautifully sunny! The next day we climbed the Tybee Island Lighthouse 178 steps and when we finally reached the top the view was breathtaking. We could see the ocean for miles and miles. Then we went to the Tybee Island Beach for the day. We swam in the ocean for a couple of hours and then the Girls worked on the GA. Coastal badge with Tybee Island Marine Science museum. The girls had a blast catching ocean life in a net and then trying to identify what they caught! After this, they swam a couple of more hours in the ocean. Then we were off to Capt. Mike's for a dolphin tour. It was great. We saw lots of dolphins and a couple of lighthouses. Then we ate at Snapper's Jack and had seafood.--Yum! Yum! Then we went back to the hotel and swam at the hotel pool. The next day we went to the Juliette Low Birthplace and saw where Juliette was born and grew up. We wore our victorian dresses we made last year when we worked on our sewing badge. Afterwards we donated the dresses to the Birthplace. Oh I forgot the first day we also went and visited the cemetery where Juliette Low and her family are buried. After the Birthplace, we walked to the Riverstreet candle factory and made our own candles to take home. Then we walked to Blimpie's and had sandwhiches. Then some of us went to the Savannah Mall for shopping and some went back to the hotel for a swim. That evening we all ate at the Chart House on Riverstreet. It was great! After that we took in a few souvenier shops and then we went back to the hotel for our last swim. The next day we were homeward bound. We ate a good breakfast and headed for home. It was a fabulous trip. The weather was great and we all got along great. We would recommend this trip to anyone. It was a blast. |
