30.10.07-In the midst of another swirl of frenzied gigs. We played at Come Down @ Meet the Folks at the Apple Tree on Sunday and the joint was jumpin. Didn't feel like a Sunday at all. More like Saturday night! The day before that, we played at the Union Chapel and sunk our teeth into a big-natural-reverb version of Neil Young's "Broken Arrow". I'll post some stunning pics that Keira took. Go Keira! Hats off. The plan is to do play a nighttime gig there in February supporting the Blockheads. Then, as I continue in reverse, we played What's Cookin' on Wednesday with some other great acts, all of whose names escape me except for Indigo Moss. We played our set at breakneck speed and broke strings. Heck, we even sold outta cds! Before that, I was up in Manchester for the In the City conference, kind of the UK equivalent of South By Southwest. Grace Solero played a showcase gig and we heard a bunch of industry people talk about all the things that musicians never want to deal with or think about: the music business. All the old-timers that spoke were very passionate about music and eloquent while anyone below a certain age seemed lethargic and bored. Maybe I'm just ageist. We met some good people and it was fun to stay in a swanky hotel with an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet included. Though I do miss waffles, pancakes and french toast.

I was gonna try to write about all the things happening recently, but it's all just a big blur, really. Norton Money played a bunch of festivals towards the end of summer and a great time was had by all. How's that for summary?

A few more gigs before Jeremy's off to California. Then Grace Solero will be booking more dates since the album came out this month. Oh yeah, we had a really fun launch party for "New Moon" at a Soho cocktail bar called Jrink. We packed the place out and that's always a good thing. We also played an acoustic-ish gig at the 12 Bar. I experimented on Michael's hollowbody Epiphone with tons of reverb and some ebow. Prior to soundcheck, we had a photoshoot for a travel blog for a Japanese barbie doll who's going around the world (?!). Basically, she and her other doll friend are watching us perform onstage and they look "life-size". It's all about angles. They had a crew of 6 people and they all seemed to really enjoy their work. No, really. It was impressive. If we can find the travel blog, I'll put a link up, ok?

Hey, I'm mostly caught up!

-Oh yes, it's still mighty busy around here. I'm either gigging or busking pretty much every night, so I'm keeping my chops up. Made it down to Brighton for a short set with Grace Solero at the Prince Albert and Norton Money's made a slew of appearances at festivals in the past couple months. Let's see. We played on the big, flowery, outdoor rock stage at the Wathamstow Festival as part of What's Cookin's portion of entertainment. We changed the words to Rodeo in San Gregorio to Rodeo in Walthamstow and that led to us performing it live on the BBC London Morning Show a few days later. More later.
