20.08.07-How are you? Norton Money had our 1st two summer festival appearances in the past few weeks. It sure is nice to get outta London for a few days. We played the Small Festival out in a town called Gillingham in the west of England. It took place on the grounds of this mansion owned by a spiritual Indian guy. They're very into long hugs and make some pretty tasty vegetarian food. Just outside the mansion are a bunch of cabins, campers and tents assembled for an English version of camping in a field. Not quite the camping I know of but just added to the whole surreal environment. The festival organizers had a cool giant tent set up where we played the 1st night. We couldn't play an encore because of the neighboring sleeping campers, but that didn't stop us from playing songs around the campfire til 4 in the morning in an incredibly rainless seven hour stretch. The next night, we got to play a gig in the mansion itself with Paddy rocking the light show fantastic.

Last weekend, we played our 1st few shows up in Edinburgh, my old stomping ground. It's a crazy place during the Fringe Festival. Thanks to Toby, we had a bit of a campout in his sitting room. It was nice to check out a bunch of great musicians at City Cafe, where we got to play a few tunes our 1st night in town. Then we played a set with Miyagi at the Mercat (the place that charged us for a free dinner) with Miyagi's Andy sitting in for a few tunes on drums. Our final gig was at the Forest Cafe, where a bunch of arty students were hanging out bewildered mostly by our hippie mountain music. We saw my friend Samba play with his band at the Jazz Bar and it was great to see him tearing it up onstage. The whole trip passed by too quickly. We had a great time up there and thanks to all the folks we met for being so nice to us. Hopefully we'll get up there sooner than later.

We might be playing another festival in a couple of weeks in Leytonstone.
