| 01.02.07-Ok, the artwork for the 2 new albums is done. Man, it took a lot longer than expected but it's done. Norton Money has the proper and official record release party at 12 Bar Club on March 15 and we're sorting out the official launch of the Grace Solero album, New Moon. We're getting UK gigs sorted out and I definitely wanna get over to the rest of Europe. I was hoping to be locked away most of this winter writing new songs and recording but the survival mode thing continues and keeps me from just sitting around strumming. I'm getting the websites all "commerced up" so feel free to buy some albums. Ok, more soon! 01.11.06-The Norton Money album is finished! Hey hey! It sure feels good. We still have to do the artwork but we should have it pressed up for the big Christmas rush. I'm trying to sort out how to sell the album off our website and if I'm able to figure it out, it should be available soon. We'll put some of the new recordings on myspace next week. We'd love to hear what you think. Back in California, my band Western Arms has a couple videos on youtube. There's a montage of Mountain Jam I set to the song "Midnight Queen" at www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYmMSJiy0Cc, and there's one of us playing "Surfboard Stuck In My Head" from a while back at KALX in Berkeley at www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDReU4rJCDw. Big thanks go out to Nathaniel for putting these together so well. Both of these videos are also in the youtube underground competition, so it'd be great if you voted for them. More real soon. And new photos. I promise. 18.08.06-Jeremy and I played our 1st Norton Money gig in San Francisco last night and it went really well. It was great to have so much support from our friends and families. Thanks to everyone who made it out. It really meant a lot to us. I've been recording some newer songs and practicing with Rich, Tom and Chris up at a great spot in San Francisco. We're in a little office in a warehouse surrounded by busy people preparing fresh food for a vegan cafe. However, they're demolishing the building in 2 weeks to build a 7-story parking garage so I'm trying to be up there as much as can before the big day. I've also been hitting up taquerias most days and had a good run of consecutive beach days, so obviously it's nice to be back in California for a while. We finished recording and mixing the Grace Solero album and we're really happy with the way it turned out. Just need to finish the artwork and then plan on doing a tour. We're still mixing the Norton Money album but it'll be done in the fall. We want to play some gigs in Scotland and Ireland, where they like their country music. That's all for now. Thanks. 14.06.06-Trying to get a bunch of things done before heading to CA for the summer. Three more songs to record with Grace in the studio this week, halfway through the Norton Money album and various running around. It's been about 90 degrees in London so that's been a bit strange. Went to the City Showcase music business thing last week. We basically learned that it's very difficult to make a living in music. Really? Met some nice people on the business side so just gotta keep up the contacts. The Howdy Hank documentary is gonna be part of a film festival in Beijing along with a short documentary of me busking in the London Underground. A Far East tour beckons. I'm still undecided if I should make my log a blog and put it on myspace but I think I'll keep it here for now. Call me a control freak. Unfortunately we had to cancel our gig at Bodie in August. Maybe next year. Still trying to figure out how to sell downloads on iTunes. Anyone available to walk me through it? Hope you're all doing well. old logs |
