These pictures of natural and urban settings, from summer in Tofino, B.C. to the 2008 Québec City 400th anniversary carnival, were taken with a Fuji FinePix 6900, which can go up to 6 megapixels in quality and has a maximum shutter speed of 1/1000th of a second (minimum 4 seconds) with an aperture range from 2.8 to 11.

All were taken with natural lighting or minimum additional flash lighting.

Journey to Guatemala

In 1996, the government of Guatemala signed the last of a series of historic peace accords to end the guerrilla with the rebels which had opposed the military junta. Over 200,000 people had died or disappeared in the bloody years of repression since the Guzmán dictatorship.
These pictures were taken all over the country, from the capital (Guatemala City - the street picture) to the jungles of El Petén province, where the repatriated refugees of La Esmeralda have been resettled to start a new life. The camera was a Minolta 600si with a Tamron 28-200 zoom.
The pictures of the demonstration were taken in Quetzaltenango (Xelaju, in Mayan language) on May 13, 1996. The protest was over occupation of the fincas: 150 peasants had been ousted by landlords because the land was resold several times to different people.
The marketplace pictures come from Chichicastenango, the biggest market in all of Guatemala (with the exception of the dignified lady selling hats, in Xela). The goods on offer in the central town plaza are multitudinous and variegated.

Below are scans of analog pictures taken in Guatemala
during the negotiation of the Economic and Agrarian Peace Accords in 1996:

Here are some older analog pictures of European landscapes and architecture: from Baden-Baden in Germany to Salamanca, Spain.
