DMR's Story

As devoted Beatle fans, our divine duty is to convert(!) metal, pop and rock fans into Beatle fans. Ever since I became a beatle maniac, I've been carrying out this sacred duty with utmost sincerity. Right now, this is solely my story (Dead_Man_Rollin aka Ishtiaque). I hope someday others will also contribute their stories of conversion.

Story 1

Just 5 minutes ago, my cousin who is 18 years old, borrowed my Beatles mp3 collection CD. He's basically a pop fan, with favorites like BSB (yuck!) and other what's-its-name boy bands. He was really skeptical about Beatles. He often tried to make fun of me, by playing the cheap trick that I'm listening to the music of lady bird beetle insects (grrrr). Anyways, recently, he's been watching me doing a lot of work with this site. It's all about Beatles, and viewing my never ending flow of energy and patience, he decided to give Beatles a try. Is he converted? Let's see! Not many people are lucky enough to like Beatles, unfortunately.

Story 2

Another cousin of mine, who's a 1 and half year old baby, quite often gives me a visit while I'm working in front of my PC. Every time he comes by, he asks me to play some songs. The kid is really intelligent, and he really knows what music is. He insists on me to play a particular Indian song. But today I gently rebuked him for his low taste. I rather played him a couple of Beatle songs. He really enjoyed "Everybody's got something to hide but for me and my monkey". To be honest, the child acted a lot like the lovely animal, Monkey! He was clapping his hands, and doing a mini-head banging. Yes! Hopefully, a next generation Beatle fan has just taken birth.

Story 3

My most successful conversion was one of my class mates, E. He became such a Beatle freak, that he became hysteric when George died. He did a really embarrassing act on me. The day when I gifted him a CD with all the Beatle songs, he came forward and touched my feet in gratitude. They boy's a true maniac. But as you know, only the good can love Beatles. He's a great friend, and as a person, he's an excellent individual.

Success Ain't Easy :S

These are my major successes. But I also enjoyed moderate success with some other friends of mine. I got this friend, who only likes the remade versions of Beatle songs. What a bummer! He likes Across The Universe by Rufus Wainwright & Roger Waters, I'm Looking Through by The Wallflowers, etc. I gave her my full collection, but still she ain't a real fan. One of my true frustrations.....

There's this other friend of mine, who listened to a number of beatle songs, on her own. I recommended a lot of other Beatle songs, but she never told me whether she liked them or not. Whenever I tried to enquire, she created a wonderful devious route, and evaded the topic.  She's one intelligent person....

And what else? Most other people to whom I recommended Beatles never even bothered to give them a try. They say...oh Beatles?  Let it be, And I Love Her and Yesterday--that's all they got. How pathetically wrong they are. Definitely these three songs are enough to prove the class of Beatles, but they are just an iota of a full treasure chest.

My Dream

One of my long cherished dreams was to meet a Beatlefan, who's as mad about Beatles as I am. I searched, searched and searched, but no results. But when I finally met someone like that, I found out that he's the boy from my school, who dropped out 2 years ago. I wasn't mature then, I couldn't accept him as a friend at that moment. I kind of started hating him. I avoided him, and I was even angry at him. After that incident, I haven't met a true Beatlefan, for a long time. I'm not considering E, cause I'm the one who made him a Beatle fan. This is a blank space in my life. In the fifth year of my Beatle ship, I got this English teacher, who was a true Beatle fan. I wrote an article on how I became a Beatle fan, and how important Beatles is in my life. He really liked it, and we talked a lot on beatles. My marketing teacher was also a Beatlefan. And you know what? He actually lived in Liverpool. I still remember the first class with him. It was sometime in late 2001 or early 2002, not too sure about it at the moment. He came in the class and started asking our names. After that, he said "Do you know what is marketing all about? It is about satisfying people's needs."  Then he sang out "I can't get no satisfaction." I had a spontaneous outburst of joy and thrill. I don't know what happened to me. I spelled out "That's Rolling Stones." The teacher, who's name is Syed Ibrahim Bakht (SIB for short) looked at me with a surprised look in his eyes. He said, "You look pretty young. How come you recognize Rolling Stones music?" I said I'm a classic rock fan, and I listen to those bands very much. I mentioned that Beatles is my true passion, and I also listen to Stones and Doors. Hearing this, he kind of shook hands with me, and said he loves Beatles, and he used to live 2 blocks away from Paul's home. His father was one of the first immigrants, who flew to UK from Bangladesh almost 50 years ago. SIB sir looks like a English, he talks like one, and he's a Beatlefan. Cool, isn't it? At that point, both of us realized that we were interrupting the whole class. So the Beatle discussion had to go. But it kept on going, throughout the semester. I'll never forget that one. 2/3 semester later, I had to take another English course. The teacher was a Russian lady. She was another Beatle fan. The title of our first assignment was "I, Me Mine", where we were instructed to write about ourselves. The title was a bulb. I instantly recognized Irena miss as a beatle fan. However, I didn't get much opportunity to discuss beatles with her, because that semester was a really difficult one for me. But she remarked in one of my scripts that there's nothing wrong about being a beatle fan. She encouraged me to stick with my preferences, whatever others think or believe shouldn't affect a true beatlefan.

One of my rather dumb dreams were to have a lot of beatle fan friends, maybe a girl friend too! Hehe...everybody's not as lucky as the boss. :) Anyways, #beatles gave me a lot of beatle fan friends, and surprisingly, I don't even know the name of one of my best buddies out there. He's just Vox, the wonderful guy with an attitude. The nick Vox-Dei never expired, but he's became such a rare that, I met him only once or twice in the last 2 years. Maybe I should get his ICQ number this time. But I don't use that thing, which is a problem. And there were beatlesgirl, Jeff (The_Seeker) and Aline, Pea (Ahmed), Phill (BTL), and not to mention, Jp, Debbie, Vivien, Stef and C(C_Moon)! Mirc made life look better. Mirc gave me the opportunity to make this site, and express my views out here.

Now I want to hear your story. Please send it to me! Please, Please Me!

Addy is, as you might have known already-- [email protected]

And let your mother know, that you're a Beatle fan. She sure will be proud of you.
