There is a story behind most Dalnet channels. Our story began way back in 1996, when the whole concept of chatting was a new phenomenon, and Dalnet was one of the newer servers. You may despise or envy Mr. Bill Gates, but you cannot disagree to the fact that his Windows operating systemx, especially Win 95 has changed the way computers behave. Mirc, the windows based irc client has given us and still giving us the pleasure of making friends from throughout the world. I joined the #beatles submarine in 1999. It was 3 years old by then. I don't know much about what the channel was before '99, but the next four years passed in front of my eyes.

Throughout the years, one thing was true, almost consistently. That is, the channel had to remain quiet, for most part of the day. It was very painful for me. When I used to come online, it was the late hours of night for most users of #beatles. So I had to wait all day for someone to log in. Sometimes people would whois me (from other channels), and join in to #beatles. They made jokes regarding the band Beatles, saying that the band is dead, and so is the channel. You're the only user over there, and you don't have ops either. How pathetic! I must admit, such words did make me upset at that times. However, as time passed by, I started meeting some cool people. The best thing about them is that they loved Beatles! At first when I became a beatlefan, it was a like a dream for me to meet another fan, who'd be as mad as myself, about Beatles. But when it rains, it pours. I met many fans out there. My first friend was _yoko, who's from Uruguay. My first enemy in beatles was Digitalconfusious. Later on, when I got to know him better, I found out that he's quite a nice guy. But back in those days, he was a burning example of uncontrollable anger! I had been kicked and rebuked by him many times. Nowadays he's really busy with his personal life. He's still a staff of our channel, with the nick Eusis. The best way to identify him is through his ident, which is always "imagine". _yoko is such a nice person. To know more about her, please see her profile. I passed my first year in #Beatles without knowing what a founder is! I did see Jp one or two times, but I never had the opportunity to hear from him. The reason was, once again the time zone where I was living. In my second year, I got more acquianted with the jargons of Mirc. I met PEa, The_Seeker and Aline. I'd especially talk about The_Seeker, aka Jeff. Jeff was a regular user of #Beatles. We had a lot in common. Both of us were fans of The Doors and Bob Dylan, besides being beatlefans. Jeff one day invited me to his channel, #classic_rock. He made me an aop there. Gradually we became good friends. After taking a long break from Mirc, Jeff made a return. That was the time when he got his ops. During his absence, classic_rock got dropped. I reregistered it, and its still running. But that's a different story. Aline was another good friend of mine, who was madly in love with a sop of our channel, However, the relationship didn't work out well, cause they lives quite far away. But instead of gettind depressed, she got steady with Jeff, and we are really happy about that. Both of them has retired from Mirc. I do see Storm-X online sometimes, who's a friend of Jeff. But the happy couple never comes. Maybe someday we'll see their children online, who knows! I really miss you two, Aline and Jeff.
PEa aka Ahmed is the first Asian dude to become an op of #beatles. He's really a nice person, and he knows a lot about Beatles and Beatle stuff. He's a bit eccentric, though. When he's in a good mood, he's a great company. But most of the time he's either too busy, or too depressed. So I seldom see him talking nowadays. Hey what happened to ya, buddy?
[FLA] aka Steff is the king of uncommon music. I can bet on the fact that out of the ten band he'll recommend to you, you wouldn't have heard about atleast eight of them. But the best part is that all 10 bands would have atleast a song or two, which will keep you bedazzled for a long time. He listens to a lot of music, having a really diversified taste of music. However, he refuses to give me a profile of his! That's why this is all you are getting to know about him, if you don't know him in person. When I first saw him online, I found people calling him "Steffy". If you're into Tennis, you've surely heard about the German champion tennis player, Andre Agassis's wife Steffy Graff. I though he was a woman too :S Anywas, I didn't get embarassed by addressing him as "her". Hehe...whattta mess that could've been. He gets the award for using the most number of nicks. If you don't have channel access, it's almost sure that you'll never know that guy is Stef. Warnakuku, dizzydizzy, Sayamati---these are just a few examples from his pool of thousands of nicks.
I got away with thinking Stef as a guy, but I didn't get away with another similar happening. I thought methylene was a guy. One day I was talking with a guy, who exclaimed about my ignorance regarding Rolling Stones. For some weird reasons, I never heard much from the stones. When I completed listening to all Beatles studio albums, I had only 2 songs from the Stones in my collection, and Satisfaction was not one of them. When we were discussing these matters, meth was changing nicks, continually. So I had the nerve to say "He can't get no satisfaction. I wonder why methylene keeps changing nicks". Then meth said, with all caps, I'M A HE?? That's when I got the message--I said something terribly stupid. A weird way to get introduced, but we talked a lot that day. Later on I also taught Vivien aka Vivy aka methylene a few Bangla words. She herself showed interest in Bangladesh and our language. She is a devoted musicfan, and a musician too. She has her own band, named "War and Tea". They got a number of their tracks uploaded in www.mp3.com. I didn't hear many of her songs. but I liked the two songs that I downloaded. The best thing about her singing is that she's gotta original tune. Anyways, as a friend, I shouldn't be saying too many praising words. As everyone knows, words don't seem too credible, when a friend is describing another friend. :-) Go listen to it yourself.
Hmm...instead of telling you the history, I'm telling you all about the people out there in #beatles. But this is the history--the people makes the history, neither the bots. nor DALnet services. Hehe...I hope no ircop feels offended and freezes our channel in this regard. However, to assure you, JP, the channel boss, has got some very good ircop pals ;)
