10. Favorite Beatle And Why:

John Lennon, because he's the true non-conformist amongst the group, and those kind of people always attracts me the most. His voice is also very charming to me--there's no one quite like him. However, I never liked his John Onno Lennon illusion....and many of his solo songs are rubbish. Paul's solo efforts are way better.

20. What Turned You On About The Beatles?:

Their ahead of time style of music. When I first got to listen them, I was expecting something like Frank Sinatra, Elvis or B. B. King. But they were all rock'n roll, and I fell in love with them in no time. I've spent atleast 30% of my income throughout the last 7 years in pursuit of beatles stuff.

21. When did you first join Dalnet? late 1998

22. When did you first join #Beatles?
Early 1999

23. Write your own biography, with a
little Beatlified touch. Topic is
"How did I become a Beatlefan/maniac".
Write as much as you wish to....I
expect atleast 200 words. Include the
following things
in it:

* 3 most favorite Beatles albums :

White Album, Revolverd, Rubber Soul,

* 10 most favorite Beatles songs: Hey Bulldog, Lovely Rita, Yesterday, I Will, And I Love Her, Piggies, And Your Bird Can Sing, I'm Looking Through You, Everybody's Got Something To Hide, She Came In Through The Bathroom Window, You're Gonna Loose That Girl, Oh Darling, P S I Love You--I got so many favorite songs that it's kind of misjudgment to select 10 songs.

* Your least favorite Beatle song(s)
Revolution 9. I wonder why did they include this in the album :@  Is it a song at all? Some meaningless shouting and the boring number 9...number 9....
And sometimes I find some other songs irritating as well, but the feeling doesn't last long.

Here goes the bio thingy. At that time, i was a metal and hard rock freak. My favorite bands were Metallica, Megadeth, Scorpions, Rainbow, Deep Purple, etc. One day I got hold of two custom compiled audio tapes from one of my cousins. Both of the cassettes were of 90 minutes duration, and they contained songs from artists and bands like Beatles, Elvis, Doors, Dylan, Don Mclean, Eric Clapton, Dire Straits, Harrison, Roger Whittakar, John Denver, Bread, Kenny Rogers, etc. I still remember the songs, because these two tapes changed my life totally. From a metaloid, I became a fan of classic rock and country music. I did not desert metal and rock, but they are now my tertiary preferences. The tapes contained only one beatle song, which I liked moderately. It was "And I Love Her". I lent the tape to an uncle of mine, who also had his first experience of beatles. This uncle was only 2 years older than me, and I believe that my musical choices were very much built and influenced by him during my childhood. He said the song was excellent. Previously all we knew about beatles was that they are an old band, which once were very popular. We even did silly things like mixing up Beatles and Eagles songs. I remember some moron saying he heard a beatle song named "Hotel California". For some extraordinary weird reasons, Beatles have never been able to create much impact in the mind of Bangladeshis. However, we gratefully remember George's contribution towards are liberation movement in 1971. The Concert For Bangladesh was a great facelift for our war efforts, and the charity money the concert raised was also very useful in saving lives. The day George died, I found difficulty in talking and eating. He was like our soul friend...he and Ravi Shanker. Anyways, after listening to the tape, I bought a tape on my own. That was a "best of beatles" tape. That was an accidental incident as well. I needed to get change. I was stuck with a 100 taka note (60 taka=1 Us Dollars). So I bought a cassette, costing me 30 taka and got the change. The songs were like this. Yesterday, Let It Be, And I Love Her, She Loves You, Love Me Do. I liked let it be and love me do, but She Loves You simply made me a beatlemaniac. I used to listen that song 10-20 times a day. After a while I listened to A Hard Days Night and Drive My Car. All these songs made me a fan of the Beatles Rock N Roll era. I started collecting beatles songs. We have a shop called Rainbow in our city, where they'd copy songs from LPs and CDs into cassettes. At that time, CDs were not affordable for us, and LPs were outdated. So I got all the cool beatles songs copied in cassettes. At first I copied a double LP album entitled "The Beatles: Rock N Roll Music".  There were many great songs in the album. But in particular, the song "Hey Bulldog" overwhelmed me. It's still one of my most favorite songs. I spent so much money in beatles that sometimes I had to apply tricks. But I never regret. My time with beatles are the best times I've spent. In 1998, I bought a PC, which had a CD Rom. At that time CDs became cheaper, and I started buying some CDs. Sad to say, I had to buy pirated copies. Original copies are not available in this third world country. If I someday go abroad, I'll buy all the original copies, and I'll try to rectify my sins. I got my net connection as well, and from 2000 I started downloading beatles stuff. Within the last 3 years, I've downloaded all beatles albums, and also albums from Klaatu, Utopia, Rufus Wainwright, Doors, George Harrison, etc. Thanks to Napster, Audiogalaxy, Morpheus and Kazaa. I miss AG a lot--it was such a wonderful p2p software. I really miss the group thing, which no other p2p software has been able to create. I wish the vinyl kings CD was available here. In my lifetime, I haven't met another beatlefan like me, in our country. I made a number of beatle fans though. One of them, namely Emran has become a real beatle freak. I feel happy, when I see him singing out Beatles songs. Every beatle fan should feel good about being the fans of worlds greatest band. Some bands got tunes, some got lyrics, some got music, some got depth, some creates long lasting impacts--but Beatles has got all these qualities. From the first day of my visit to #beatles, I craved for being an op. I also asked _yoko to give me ops straightaway. LoL....those where wild times. When my best friends, The_Seeker, PEa, aline_25 and [FLA] got ops, I felt really jealous. One day I gathered  the courage and asked JP whether I can have ops. He said he'll discuss it with Debbie. But No Reply :( So One day I asked Debbie. She did not reply, and I felt so embarrassed that I just turned off my modem and got offline. After a day, I joined back in, and that was one of the most wonderful days in my whole IRC life. I got in the channel, and saw chanserv sets mode +o Dead_Man_Rollin. I couldn't believe my eyes, so I rejoined the channel. The same thing happened again. I was really on top of the world. There were times, when I'd spend all day in the channel, hoping that some sop will have pity on me and give me ops. Hehe...those good ol yestardays. Actually Debbie added me, and didn't let me know, so that I can have the surprise of my life. The saddest day of my operator life was the day when George died. I joined in, and saw the channel's got 20 users. I said...am I in the wrong server? I was happy to see so much people, but never did I imagine that this crowd came here as a result of the tragic death if George. Aline told me about the unfortunate incident. We all shared our sorrows, me, Jeffry, Aline, Laura and Vivien. We were so much trying to change the topic, which had the reference to a happy beatle incident,  which occurred back in the 70s. We knew that the topic was founder locked, but we didn't give up. People get real close to each other, in times of extreme sorrows and happiness. That day, it felt like we all were from the same family, and all of us are mourning for our dead brother. Sometimes I miss those days, when we were all together. Jeff and Aline has quit dalnet, I don't see Pea as well. Vox comes once in a blue moon...he still calls me terminator...my old nick. Eusis is very busy nowadays. Things are not to remain the same forever...this is what is the truth.  One last incident. I downloaded a midi collection of beatles songs from a site. There was the midi of the song "You're Gonna Loose That Girl" in it. I haven't heard the song, but I liked the midi very much. Probably this is the only song which I liked before even listening to it. That is why Beatles is different. They just make things happen to you. I always dreamt of having a site, where everyone would tell us how they became a beatlefan. I expressed this thought to JP, and he said it was a great idea. After some days, Debbie asked me whether I could work on the site. I said, if I get all the material from the people, it won't be much difficult to create a site. Here's the outcome of that project. Somedays later, JP made me a sop. That was another great day for me. I never thought of becoming a sop, but now I feel more responsible towards the channel, and the feeling is great.

24. You can also add something about the
image of Beatles in your country. What
it was during the 60s and how is it now.
Do you believe beatles can attract more
fans, now that the band is no more and
two members are dead? Justify your
reasoning.

I agree with what JP said in this respect. Timeless music will always attract audience. I also believe that the pop lover people will someday grow out of that type of music--it is our duty to show them the right way. I accidentally stumbled across Beatles. In order to create more impact, we need to make people give beatles a try. Writing articles, holding tribute concerts, creating fan clubs, making websites--all these can help in rejuvenating the beatle mania. I dream of creating the first Beatle fan club in Bangladesh.

25. What other artists/bands do you
recommend to a beatlefan?

Dire Straits(M. Knopfler-the guitar guru), The Doors, Bob Dylan, Kinks, Coldplay, Klaatu (They Sound Pretty much like the fab), Todd Rundgren's Utopia (Listen to the album "Deface The Music", which is a parody of the beatle album "Beatles 1967-70"), Deep Purple, Blackmore's Night, Rufus Wainwright(You shouldn't miss this guy,,,,he's awesome), Sean Lennon, Julian Lennon
26. Do you play any instrument(s)? If so
what?

Nothing at all...poor me

About #Beatles (Mostly intended towards
the non-op people)

27. What do you think is the role and
purpose of #Beatles? What should it be?
What should we do to serve the fans?

It should be a place where isolated beatles fans from all over the world can meet, share and exchange their views and emotions regarding Beatles. I found a real hard time dealing with the outside world, where everybody listens to BSB like bullshit stuff. #beatles gave me the feeling that I'm not the only one--there are quite a lot of individuals around the world, who loves and lives beatles as much as I do.

28. Who are the people you often see in
the channel? Are they friendly, arrogant
or ignorant? Feel free to make any
comment.

Stef, Vivy and C_Moon--these are the people whom I see nowadays. They are all great people. Back in the old days, I used to see Vox, Jeff, Ahmed, Laura, beatlesgirl, Eusis as well. They were cool as well. And of course Debbie and Kenny are there, taking a break from their busy life.

29. Anything Else?……Final Thoughts…..?:

Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away, now it seems as though there here to stay. Oh I believe in Yesterday.

What else? I'm the crazy little kid, who can spend a whole day sitting in front of his PC, listening to good music. The vinyl kings CD is not available here at the moment, which is really sad. I'm mad about John. Nobody can get away with saying something bad about John. Rufus Wainwright is another dude, who's making me crazy nowadays. How can a person have such a wonderful voice? Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk--listen to this song. I'm the one who listens to Iron Maiden and Klaatu, consecutively. I've listened to so many songs from so many artists, that sometimes it all gets entangled within my brains. Contrary to my choices, I've opted to study Business Administration, with a major in Marketing. Whatta mess I'm in!

Latest from me: I could finally get hold of all 14 tracks from the new album by Rufus.! Yahoo! The album (Want One) rocks! Though there are better tracks in the other two albums, as a whole this is perhaps the nicest albums. I'm sure you'll fall in love with this guys voice...it's so awesome. I'm looking forward to the second part of his "Want" project, which will be "Want Two", scheduled to come out somewhere next year. And another great band to watch is "Blackmore's Night". They released their 4th studio album this year. I haven't heard that album yet, but I recommend to any music lover their first two albums "Shadow of the Moon" and "Under A Violet Moon". They do a lot of concerts in Europe, so Krisztina do watch out for them, when they arrive at your place. I can bet you'll love'em.  You can later come back and tell me all about it :) I'm quite enjoying my new job, and eating a lot out of joy! I'll soon be getting an upgrade for my PC..hopefully I'll get myself a 5:1 speaker set and a good sound card. I can't wait for the moment when I'll be able to listen to my Beatles and Rufus songs in that setting.
