Meet "Raven", my 2 yo. blue heeler. The family acquired her shortly after I left for Kemptville in '01 and from the stories they tell, it seems our little girl was quite the handful at first. She's sired by my coach's stud dog and full sister to the female they currently have. I've never had a heeler before and personally, I thought they were downright ugly when I first laid eyes on one. However, they grew on me from years of seeing them around the horse show scene so I was able to convince the 'rents we HAD to have one. What I didn't know was how hyper these dogs really are which can become quite annoying at times. It's taken some time, but she's finally coming around and is pretty much my "shadow" when I'm outdoors. These dogs are incredibly loyal and despite what my parents say, she is quite intelligent (selective hearing) when she isn't mawling you for attention.
