| On the 6th December 2003 I was on a Scout Camp at Hamner and we were doing a patrol challenge. We had to push a metal go cart. There were 5 of us in a patrol, one in the cart, 4 pushing. We pushed the cart about 50m to a scrum machine and 50m back. When we got to the scrum machine we took the corner to sharp and BANG our cart hit the side of the machine and my right leg got hit. I thought "there will be a big bruise and a hugh bump" but I kept on running - we finished in a time of 58 seconds. I sat down and unzipped my trousers and saw loads of blood, so I lay back and one scout looked and saw mee and he got the other leaders then my dad looked back and saw me too. Chris asked if anyone if they had a clean hanky, then Chris asked anyone else? and Bill anothe scout leader said "yeah but its not ironed". They put that on as well then I got carried into a 4wd and we raced to the medical clinic and I came out with 2 stiches on the inside of my leg and 6 on the outside and now I can't swim, bike, run play sport or anything except rest. BUGGER ! ! Thank you to all the Dallington Scout Group for all the comfort and support that they have given me Matthew Hird |
