Dallas County Democrats
Compare Parties

This site is an ARCHIVE of the website used for the Dallas County Democratic Party from 2000 to May of 2002, and which was built by the then Chair Bill Howell. Though some information here will be relevant through the 2002 elections, other pages here are of interest for history or research. For the latest updated news about the Dallas County Democratic Party, see their own website at www.dallasdemocrats.org.

PLATFORMS:

The full text of the 2000 Texas Platforms of both the Democratic and Republican Parties has been posted on the Texas Democratic Party's website so that people can compare for themselves. Weeks after their state convention the Republicans still had not put their platform on their own website. Could it be they are ashamed of what a far-right-wing extremist document it is? Go see at the Texas Democratic site: www.txdemocrats.org

You can see a very revealing side-by-side camparison of the 1998 Texas Platforms of the Democratic Party and the Republican Party. Sadly, the Republicans have not made any major changes for the better. NOTE: This table is 17,155 bytes, the longest document on our website, so it may take a little time to download. To read it look here.

One of our Precinct Chairs (and Platform Committee members), Tom Blackwell, has been putting the Texas Democratic Party's Platform on his own website for years. If you want to see the full text of the 1996 or 1998 Texas Democratic Platform look here.

ISSUES:

If you were surprised by the rhetoric at this year's Republican national convention about how they want to "leave no child behind", you are right to be puzzled. One person with firsthand knowledge of Bush's real record in Texas is Democratic State Representative Glen Maxey of Austin. He sent Bush an open letter objecting to this. You can read it for yourself here.

For a non-partisan look at the danger of a complete takeover of the Supreme Court by the far-right-wing extremists (such as Bush is very likely to appoint if elected) see the site put up by People For The American Way at www.itsyourcourt.org.

OUR OPPONENTS:

The Gore-Lieberman campaign has put up a site explaining what's wrong with George W. Bush's dangerously risky proposals to change Social Security programs. Read the facts at: www.bushinsecurity.com.

Another Gore-Lieberman campaign site compares the effects of proposals by the two campaigns on real people. Check out www.realplansforrealpeople.com

The Democratic National Committee has put more facts on the web so that people can see George W. Bush's stands on the issues and his real record as Governor. Their sites exposing the truth about Bush are:

The Democratic National Committee has also set up a website to reveal the awful Congressional voting record of Bush's Vice-Presidential candidate, Dick Cheney. This man is even further off to the extreme right than Newt Gingrich or Dick Armey! For full details see Bush-Cheney.net
