GARY EWING

GARRISON ARTHUR EWING

(TED SHACKELFORD):

JOCK and ELLIE EWING�s middle son, he was her favorite due to his sensitive, caring personality. Thrice married to VALENE and one to ABBY, he fathered LUCY and twins BOBBY and BETSY, and a daughter out of his relationship with KATE, MOLLY. When they re-married after a 15-year separation, MISS ELLIE gifted them a house in KNOTS LANDING and the couple settled down there. Recovered alcoholic, GARY did not attend A.A. until his marriage was endangered again, one year after the wedding. GARY had affairs with other women, such as JUDY, CATHY, JILL and, being still married with VAL, ABBY too.

Very keen on cattle ranching and sports, he used to work as a waiter, used cars� salesman and, after receiving his inheritance, financed several ventures: a record company, the Lotus Point resort and a building company, among others. Just like his brother BOBBY, he ran for the California Senate Election but was won by GREG SUMNER�s candidate, PETER. GARY was played in a double episode of DALLAS�s Season 1 by actor DAVID ACKROYD. TED SHACKELFORD also gueststarred as GARY on DALLAS, and starred on the KL Reunion mini-series "Back To The Cul-de-Sac".

VAL EWING

VALENE CLEMMENS EWING GIBSON WALESKA EWING

GARY�s wife, whom he married three times, and his kids� mother. The only legitimate daugher of LILIMAE and JEREMIAH, she used to neglect her, determined to become a famous folk-and-country star. Val was born in a small town called Husky Corners, Tennessee. When the father died, she went to her old grandmother�s and then to her aunts�. Being a teenager, she met Gary as waitressing in a caf�. Not long later they married and had their first daughter LUCY, but J.R. EWING intefered and caused the couple�s breakup. He threw VAL off the ranch and took her daughter away from her, partly because LILIMAE did not let her in her house. J.R.�s threats worked out and LUCY was raised in SOUTHFORK.

VAL slowly re-newed the relationship with LUCY through mail and, when she lived back in DALLAS, they often saw each other again. But J.R. interfered one more time when they seemed to reconcile and he lied about VAL, besides impelling GARY to run away all over again. VAL kept close to LUCY, until she moved to KNOTS LANDING with GARY, after a second wedding. Amateurish writer and cook, VAL eventually published several books inspired by personal experiences. When she discovered GARY�s affair with neighbor ABBY, she abandoned him and started a new life. One heartbreak followed another, and after marrying two other men, BEN and DANNY, GARY and VAL became a family again as they got married for the third time, being parents of twin babies, fathered out of wedlock.
