All About Dali

Bio (VH-1 behind the music style)

Born in a small town in Northern California during the month of Libra, Dali grew up listening to music like the Beatles, Elton John, Johnny Cash, and Dolly Parton.  At the tender age of four, she decided to pursue a career as a disco queen.  Unfortunately, they did not make glitter platforms for children, so she unhappily resigned herself to a mineal existence of  Buster Browns and Giranimals, instead.  This was also the same year that Dali had her first musical fit of rage whilst trying to learn to play on a  toy piano.  At the age of six, she had a revelation whilst playing the Star Wars theme with a tonette during a school recital.  She wanted to be a rock star.  For some reason she thought learning to play the violin would somehow help her achieve this goal.  After a year of violin lessons, Dali was accepted in the Junior Honor Symphony and went on her first tour of all the elementary schools in Butte County in a yellow school bus.  This gave her a taste of what rock stardom may be like.
Then the 1980's hit and so did New Wave.  And so did Duran Duran.  Dali's life would never be the same.   Dali became fascinated with Nick Rhodes' keyboard setup, and one day she bought her first Keyboard magazine.  Dali just had to have a Yamaha DX7.  It would be over two years before Dali acquired her first synth, a Korg DW6000, on her 12th birthday.  She was happy that she finally had a synth, but her desire for a DX7 never waned.  In 1987, just a few months before they discontinued the Yamaha DX7, she was finally able to come up with the dosh, and purchased a DX7 IIFD.  That wasn't the end of her obsession with keyboards; it was just the beginning.  Becoming more skilled, she eventually purchased a Korg 01W/Pro keyboard workstation.  This allowed her to explore music composition more fully.
Dali went to college in the early 90's to study Audio Recording.  She learned to mix in a 32 track analog studio and also learned to play guitar.   In college, Dali got mixed up with the crazy art and music crowd, and soon became distracted.  This is when she joined her first band, "
BONE GRUEL." They categorized themselves as a "Gothabilly" band.  At first they were described by the Chico News & Review as "Godfuckingawful."  Due to their growing popularity and controversial performances, in less than a year they were nominated as "Best Alternative Band" for the local awards show, "The Annies."  They did not win though.  In fact, they became blacklisted by much of the arts community because of their blasphemous, scandalous performance at the 1995 awards show.  Just months later, conflicts arose between bandmates, and the band broke up in the midst of making their first album....
Disillusioned by and fed up with small town life, Dali packed her Ford Mustang with her music equipment, faux furs, milk crates of vinyl, and headed north to Seattle on December 31, 1995.  Six years, several jobs and a handful of bands later, what has Dali learned?
"My life has been like a rollercoaster ride to outer space.  There have been lots of unexpected dips and sharp turns along the way, and who the hell knows what will be waiting for me when I get there, so I may as well enjoy the ride.  It's all about the journey, man.
It's also about learning how to take lifes' negative experiences and make them into something positive.  If someone hands me what looks like a piece of glass, I'll find a way to cut it into a diamond, damnit."   -Dali Pardon

(Updated March 8, 2003)

"
My life is a movie in which I play the starring role...can you dig?"
This is my first update of 2003.  I have to say there is never a dull moment in my life.  I think that's why I keep that quote above.
The band is rolling right along.  After months of searching we finally found a 2nd guitarist, I think his name is Joel or something.  haha.  He played his first show at the Croc with us a few weeks ago.  And what a chaotic show it was.  I'm not even going get into it.  Chaos...sweet chaos.
I'm in search of a new job at this moment, as I was laid off the day before our last show at the Croc.  What perfect timing.  I didn't have to ask to leave work early after all...
Definitely take a minute to read the update on this page:
