HELP THESE DOGS

1-27-09  This is Star, tied too short to get into her box.  We are having a winter storm that started with snow, then freezing rain, and then more snow.  She was out in all of it, sleeping on the ground at night.  This is intentional.  She was on a ragged rope when Bubblegum was in with her; then on a chain.  It was several days before I saw her in her usual spot...on top of her dog house.  Why would someone keep a dog out in freezing rain when there's a box right there?  This was a week after she got caught on the fence trying to climb out the back, and only her hind feet were on the ground.
1-27-09  While the Mrs. was flinging food and water through the fences, this black and tan tried to climb out, and fell between his and Star's pens.  I could hear him whimpering.  He's holding himself up by bracing against the two pens.  You can see his head right below the red sack, and his front feet against the fence.  This is the one who was involved in the fight later in the afternoon.  He was wearing no collar at that time, so he must have slipped it.
1-27-09  This is the scene that brought me running with my stick and camera.  Yellow Dog is draped over Shorty.  The light dog is a female in heat.
1-27-09  This is the awful scene that met my arrival.  See the black dog with his feet wrapped around Yellow Dog.  They were completely tangled up in Yellow's chain and pieces of cable with a multitude of frozen snaps.
1-27-09  Taking a break.  See the blood on Yellow Dog.  When it was over, his right ear was covered with it.  See the chain wrapped tightly around Shorty's waist and left hind leg.  It must have been pretty painful with the chain between his legs.  The owner refused to come out of the trailer, if she was there.
The Full Story
1-27-09  This is the back side of the pens.  See Star in a precarious position on top of her fence.  Next to her is the dreaded rabbit pen.  I hear puppies in that area sometimes.  Probably the ones that were coming to my house recently.  I'd bet they're in that pen.  That's Bubblegum and some trashed plastic in the foreground.
