The Family of Peter SEIBERT
and Margaret KNODE SEIBERT
(7th. Generation)

54-Peter SEIBERT, b. 11 Nov 1773, s/o John and Elizabeth (FUNK) SEIBERT, d. 27 Dec 1838, Boonsboro, Washington Co., MD, m. 14 Oct 1833, Washington Co., MD, (55) Margaret (KNODE) SEIBERT, b. 1778, d/o Jacob and Margaret (____?) KNODE, d. 19 Jan 1835, age 57, after a lingering illness. Margaret KNODE SEIBERT was previously married to John SEIBERT, brother of Peter, and apparently there were no children by her marriage to John. In 1800 Peter was living in Upper Antietam Hundred, 1 male 10-16, 3 males 16-26, 1 slave.  In 1810 he was living in Jerusalem-Upper Antietam Hundred, 1 male 45-up, 2 females 0-10, 1 female 26-45, 4 slaves. Peter SEIBERT, had a very active political life in Washington Co., MD, In 1818-1819, he was on a committee to erect a new Market House.  In 1820 he was living in the 3rd. Election District, 1 male 45-up, 1 female 0-10, 2 females 10-16, 1 female 1626, 1 female 26-45, 3 people in agriculture, 1 male slave 0-14, 1 male slave 14-26, 1 male slave 26-45, 1 female slave 0-14. On 24 Oct 1824, he was appointed to a committee that adopted a resolution to write General Lafayette to visit the city of Hagerstown; was Judge of Elections in 1822 for Washington Co.; in 1827, a Justice of the Levy Court, and a member of the Canal Association Committee to collect subscriptions in the 7th. District;, and in 1839, a Justice of the Peace for Washington Co. He and wife, Margaret, are buried in the Boonsboro, MD, cemetery. . Peter SEIBERTS number in the MYERS Genealogy is 196.1, but since he is a direct ancestor in the CRIDER Genealogy, the number 54 will be used.  In Bell's SEIBERT book, he does not list Eliza (#196.1c4) as one of the children. However, circumstantial evidence points to her as a daughter of Peter and Margaret SEIBERT. This was only family living in the vicinity of Keedysville and Funkstown at the time Eliza m. John CRIDER. In the 1810 census, there are 2 females under 10, which would account for Amelia and Catharine; in the 1820 census, there are 1 female under 10 (Eliza), 2 females under 16 (Catherine and Mary), and one female under 26 (Amelia). The ages, assuming that the birth dates are correct, don't match exactly to the age categories in the census, but they are extremely close. Based on the census information the compiler feels that Eliza must be the daughter of Peter SEIBERT. (MDB4, MDWAB4, 8, 29 p101, MDWA2, 6-8)
