192 Dietrick MYERS, b. c1700, d. by 1792, Berkeley Co., VA, m. (193) wife unknown. Dietrick purchased land on the Opequon Creek in 1766 from John Neally. The deed states that George MYERS was heir-in-law of Dietrick. Dietrick died testate. This land, or parts of it, remained in the MYERS for generations. He had at least four sons. If there were daughters, they are not known. He may be the Christian Dietrick MYERS who arrived in Philadelphia on 3 Nov 1752 on the ship Queen of Denmark, George Parish, Commander from Hamburg, last from Cowes. He may have m. a second time; what appears to be his wife in he 1850 census is two young to be the mother of his older sons Henry and George, but old enough to the mother of the remainder of his children. Possibly there are other children who left home prior to the 1850 census. The two older children were b. in VA, the younger children b. in OH. Philip was a farmer in Liberty Twp., Sencaa Co. He was a Revolutionary War soldier (DAR proven), and is mentioned in his brother Henry's biography. Teter anglicized his name from Dietrick. (FH5, WVBEB7 p1906-107) Children:

192.4 Henry MYERS b.15 Mar 1756, d. 1834, m. Susannah LIGHT KAIN, d/o Peter LIGHT. He enlisted in the army in 1776 in York Town, PA, to which place he had gone to learn his trade, in a company, commanded by Capt. Christian Stake in a regiment commanded by Col. Swope. He served in this company until Col. Swope, Capt Stake, Lt. Holsinger, and Ens. Barnett were captured at the surrender of Fort Washington on York Island, 16 Nov 1776. The regiment being nearly destroyed, he was transferred to a corps under Gen. Putman, and took part in the capture of the Hessians at Trenton, 26 Dec 1776, and was one of the guards sent with prisoners to Philadelphia. He was discharged, returned to Berkeley Co., and there engaged in militia service under Capt. Duncan and, later Capt. Linder, and took part in the siege of Yorktown. Pension was applied for in Berkeley Co., 15 Aug 1832. Supporting statement submitted by Maj. Henry Bedinger, who knew him in service. He also mentions Teter MYERS, his brother, Archibald Scherer, and John Kisinger as persons familiar with his military activities. Henry was taxed for 4 horses and 5 cattle in Berkeley Co. on the 1787 tax rolls. According to Silver Family History (FH5), Henry died in Crawford Co., OH. (FH5, OHCWB1, WVBEB1, 24, WVB1) Children:

192.4c John L. MYERS, d. c1846, m. 16 Mar 1813, Berkeley Co., VA, Margaret FISER (FEIZER, FEISER), d/o Michael FISER. The suretor for the marriage was Michael FISER, the minister, Rev. Reebenack. John went to OH in 1842 with his family and six children, settling in Richland Co., OH, then locating near Melmore in 1833, which was a part of Crawford Co., but is now in Seneca Co. He bought 80 acres of land for $500, which included a log cabin and barn. Raised in a pro-slave state, he remained pro-slavery all of his life. He was a member of the Methodist Church. They had total of 8 children, 4 of whom were living in 1902. His son Isaiah M., a farmer, and daughter Margaret Pessel never married. They are buried in Holmes Twp., Crawford Co. 192.4c2 John G. MYERS, b. 6 Feb 1826, Berkeley Co., VA, d. 16 Nov 1906, Seneca Co., OH. He never married. John was a popular teacher in Crawford Co., OH. He attended Ashland Academy and Republic (school?) He began teaching at age 21, and taught in every school in Holmes Twp..except for District No. 3. At his death, he owned 100 acres of and, which he farmed. He served as township assessor and several terms on the election board. He is buried in Holmes Twp., Seneca Co. (OHCWB1, OHCW2, 8)
