4 Ruthvan Wellington MORROW, b. 19 Jan 1888, Summit Point, Jefferson Co., WV, s/o (8) Ruthvan Wellington & Lillie Muse WALTON MORROW, d. 19 Dec 1970, Shepherdstown, Jefferson Co., WV,  Shepherdstown, m. 2 Jun 1909,   (5) Louise Moore LICKLIDER, b. 21 Jan 1888, Shepherdstown, d/o (10) Edward Templin & Ellen Virginia ENTLER LICKLIDER, d. 12 Aug 1970, Kings Daughter's Hospital, Martinsburg, Berkeley Co., WV. R. W. attended Shepherd Normal School and played baseball on a nine man team that included his brothers, Joseph and Everett. Louise also attended normal school, and taught one year at Summit Point. After their marriage, they remained in the Shepherdstown area the rest of their lives. R. W. was a tenant farmer, farming many farms in the area for absentee land owners. In 1909/10, they farmed at Uvilla on the Dr. George W. Myers farm. They then moved to land owned by John Goulding on Terrapin Neck on the Potomac River, where Elisabeth was born. Around 1914, they moved to the LICKLIDER farm west of Shepherdstown on the road to Kearneysville, opposite Morgan Grove. R. W. Jr. was born there. Before 1917, they moved to a tenant house on the Frank McQuiltin farm on Rt. 45, north of Shepherdstown where Edward was born, and by 1919 to the Charles LICKLIDER farm a few miles east where Henry was born. R. W. hurt his back farming and they moved to town, living on Main Street across from the hardware. They went back to the country to the Mullen farm owned by Herbert Miller (son Edward M. now owns this farm), and then up the road a few hundred yards to the Whiting Farm tenant house. This property is across the road from Millbrook Farm now owned by son Henry. Around 1925, they moved to Scrabble next to the school house, and c1928 to Dam #4, where R. W. worked in the power plant at the dam. Living on the Potomac gave R. W. Jr. the opportunity to become a life long fisherman. He kept a fish box in Rock Marsh Run which always had fresh live fish when his mother wanted them for dinner. From the dam, they moved to Wild Goose Farm on Shepherd Grade c1931, where they lived until 1946. The farm was owned by the Jerret family, writers of western history. They then moved to Dr. Hendrick's farm at the end of Shepherd Grade, and in semi retirement, they bought a small 26 acre farm off Shepherd Grade across from Nip Parsons, where they lived until c1960/61. Their last residence was in Shepherdstown near the college. R. W. served on the Jefferson Co. Court for six years, and was a deputy assessor for Jefferson Co. Other then her teaching career, Louise was a full time house keeper. Because his parents had died young, he could never learn enough about his family background. He was the one person most responsible for my 40 year search for the family roots. Dam No.4, Hydroelectric Plant: Located on Dam 4 at the mouth of Rocky Marsh Run, the dividing line between Jefferson and Berkeley Counties. It is now owned by the National Park Service, but maintained by Potomac Edison. This was the power house that R. W. Sr. worked in for several years that he did not farm. A picture and full description of the power system can be found in the source, WVBEB19, p19. Scrabble School: The 1/8 acres of land for the school was sold to the Trustees of the Board of Education of Opequon District for the construction of a school for $50. It was operated as a school until 1937. R. W. Jr. and Mary Elisabeth went to school here; not sure whether Ned was included.  R. W. was raised in the Presbyterian Church in Charles Town. He and Louise were members of the Methodist Church mor2in Shepherdstown. A picture can be seen in the source  WVBEB19, p19. Children:
