2 Ruthvan Wellington MORROW Jr., b.13 Mar 1914, Shepherdstown, Jefferson Co., WV, s/o Ruthvan Wellington & Louise Moore (LICKLIDER) MORROW, d. 31 Aug 1997, Oakland, Garrett Co., MD ( body was donated to WVU Medical Center), m. 23 Mar 1936, by Rev. Hazel, Pastor at the Methodist Church, Shepherdstown, Martinsburg, Berkeley Co., WV, (3) Martha Virginia MYERS, (see MYERS History) b. 6 Jun 1916, Martinsburg, Berkeley Co., WV, bpt. 1 Jul 1917 by Rev. Knox at Marvin Chapel, Berkeley Co., WV, d/o William Mercer & Rosa Cecelia (MILLER) MYERS, d. 6 Feb 2003, Oakland, MD. (both donated to their bodies to WVU Medical Center). Their ashes are buried at Faith Methodist Cemetery, Cranesville, Preston Co., WV, in Oct 2002 and Oct 2005. R. W. graduated from Shepherdstown High School, in Shepherdstown in 1933. He attended Shepherd College from 1933 to 1936, majoring in English and History, while taking courses in theology from Emory University. He began preaching in the Methodist church at Burlington, Mineral Co., WV in 1936. in 1940, the family moved to Petersburg, Grant Co., where during the war he was the president of the Red Cross. In 1946, the family again moved, this time to Rowlesburg, Preston Co., WV, and 1947 to Davis, Tucker Co., WV. In 1951 he resigned from the ministry. While in Davis, he began a second career in photography and began to produce post cards. The family operated a concession stand at Blackwater Falls State Park near Davis. In 1953, he bought a farm in Canaan Valley and raised cauliflower. At the same time, he went back to college and received his degree from Davis and Elkins College, in Elkins, WV in 1955. He began teaching school in Sep 1955 at Terra Alta, WV. In 1957, they moved to Oakland, MD. In 1961, R. W. began teaching at Northern High School at Accident, MD, and later moved to Oakland where he taught at Southern High School. He retired from teaching in 1978. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, trapper, and ecologist all his life. He operated a post card business in Oakland until c1993. Martha graduated from Shepherdstown High School, and attended Shepherd College for a year majoring in business education. She spent most of her married life keeping the books for the farm, and operating Oakdale Studio, the family photography business in Oakland, while R. W. was teaching. They celebrated their 50th.
