16.3-Joseph Randolph MORROW, b. c1834, Summit Point, Jefferson Co., WV, s/o Joseph and Sarah Ellen LOCK MORROW, d. c1871, Berkeley Co., WV, m. 5 Nov 1857 (WVJE1), Berkeley Co., WV, Jane L. BAYLISS, b. 12 Nov 1837, d/o Thomas and Mary Margaret Ann MORROW BAYLISS, c1871, Berkeley Co., WV, and his first cousin. Their graves have not been located. Joseph Randolph was the a farmer and blacksmith by trade. In 1860, they were living in Middleway, Jefferson Co., VA (WVJE13). In 1870, they lived in Berkeley Co., WV, maybe near Arden, close to Inwood, WV (WVBE13). He and his wife died at an early age, and the children were farmed out to relatives, great aunts and uncles, in Berkeley and Jefferson Counties, WV. In 1874, E. M. was with Aunt Sarah J. REILY, S. Jane was with great uncle F. B. S. MORROW, , Joseph T. was with Aunt Sarah REILY, M. Irene was with great aunt Sarah HEFLEBOWER, and Arlington was with grandfather, Joseph MORROW in Summit Point. On 1 Apr 1881, May Irene MORROW had reached her majority, and received what money was coming to her (WVBE5). Evidently in the 1880s, these children were of age and disappeared, with the exception of the only boy, Joseph Theodore. The compiler has searched the surrounding counties, marriage records, census records, etc., to no avail. One exception, but one which needs more research, was a young female, apparently unmarried, with a child, living with her Uncle, Hanson Thomas MORROW in Canton, MO in the 1880 census. In age, she would fit 16.3b, May Irene MORROW, b. 1 Mar 1860, and was listed as niece, b. in VA. She was apparently unmarried with a one year old child. If that is the case, it might explain why one of these children ended up so far away from home, being unmarried and with child in that day and age. The children of Joseph T. MORROW, the only son, were not even aware that their father had sisters, due to the fact that he died when the they were very young, and he never gave them much information about his family. There are a number of deeds and estate records involving land transactions and records of the children in Jefferson and Berkeley Counties, WV (WVBEB17 p88, WVBE4, 5, WVJE5, 6) Children:

A niece said that the family worked in the apple orchards near Romney. She is buried with her husband (02). He m. 12 Jun 1918 (WVJE1), Charles Town, Jefferson Co., WV, Anna Virginia LICKLIDER, b. 1885, Shepherdstown, Jefferson Co., WV, d/o Edward Templin and Ellen Virginia ENTLER LICKLIDER, d. 1962, Baltimore, MD, buried Elmwood Cemetery, Shepherdstown, WV (O2). Anna was the sister of Louise LICKLIDER who m. R. W. MORROW (1888-1970), and Reika LICKLIDER who m. William Hamilton MORROW (1893-1962). When Joseph's parents died, he was about a year old, and he and his sister Sarah Jane were placed with his mother's sister, Sarah Jane RILEY (see 32.2a). In the 1880 census they were in Jefferson Co., WV. In 1895 and 1897, he was in the Middleway area, where his first two children were born. In 1900, he was near Charles Town, working as a hired hand for Newton M. Myers (WVBE16). After his second marriage, he was in the Shepherdstown area where he farmed on the Knott farm (O6, LE13, WVJE20). He had two children by his 1st. wife, and 7 by the 2nd. Children:
