88 Philip Adam ENTLER, Jr., b. 1756, York Co., PA, s/o Philip Adam and Margaret (GAEISS) ENTLER, d. 23 Aug 1793, Shepherdstown, Jefferson Co., WV, m. (89)Catherine WELSH (Sarah in her father's will, thus her name may have been Sarah Catherine), d/o John and Elizabeth (_____?) WELSH of York Borough, York Co., PA.  One source of Revolutionary records states that Adam ENTLER Jr, was in Capt William Morgan's Company from Berkeley Co. in 1776. Another states that he was private in Capt. Randolph (Rudolph) Spangler's Company, York Co., Militia in 1776. If this is correct in each case, he must have moved to Jefferson Co. in 1776. He is buried in the Lutheran Cemetery, Shepherdstown. Catherine ENTLER m. 2nd. Michael YEASLEY. (PAYO1 Bk p9, WVB1, WVBE4-17 p125, WVJEB1, 3, US4) Children:

88.1 Catherine ENTLER m. John WINGARD (WINGERD) b. c1757, d. 5 Sep 1816. John WINGERD built WINGERD Cottage, located at the north end of Duke Street in Shepherdstown, facing Church Street., looking toward the Potomac River and South Mountain. It was built on back lots 133-136. In his will probated 23 Sep 1816, he bequeathed the house and lot 1 to his wife, Catherine. During the Civil War, the house was occupied by Joseph ENTLER, brother of Catherine. Joseph's daughter, Mary Louise HERRINGTON recounted her flag sewing activities that took place in the house. The house passed from the ENTLERS and WELSHANS to the David Family. During Robert E. Peary's 1908-1909 expedition to the North Pole, his wife, and daughter, Marie Ahnighito Peary, the snow baby, lived with the Davis Family. The daughter was dubbed the snow baby due to her birth in 1893 in Inglefield Gulf. (WVJE12-13, WVJEB3 v10 p17-20)
