242.6 Susannah CRONE b. 1762, d. 28 Sep 1852, Highland Co., OH, m. Lewis DUCKWALL b. 1753, GER, d. 9 May 1847, age 94y, Highland Co. Lewis' parents were from Germany and settled in Berkeley Co., VA, when Lewis was small child. His brother Henry, d. in the Revolutionary War. Lewis and Susannah migrated to OH in a Prairie Schooner, built a log cabin on what is now New Vienna Pike. He purchased the greater part of Survey No. 2, 319. They built a second home on the opposite side of the road from the log cabin. In the 1850 census Susannah with son, John, lived in Liberty Twp., where John is a cripple with no occupation. The cemetery where he is buried may now be covered by a farm pond on the old DUCKWALL farm. (OHHIB8 p39, 9 p228, 795-797, OHHI5) Children:

242.6b Frederick DUCKWALL, b. c1787, VA, m. first Charlotte _____?; m. 2nd. 27 Jun 1843, Highland Co., OH, by William M. Reynolds, Catherine EDWARDS, b. c1805. He may have m. a 3rd. time, 8 Jan 1852, Jane FOWLER, by William M. McReynolds. Frederick was a veteran o the War of 1812. In 1820 he had 1 male 45 and up, 4 females 10-16, and one female over 45. He was a farmer on some of the acreage his father had bought. In 1850, he was farming in Liberty Twp., Highland Co.; in 1860 he was in Salem Twp.; and In 1870, he was living with dau., Elvira WILLIAMS, and was listed as in 82 y. old invalid. 242.6c Mary 'Polly' DUCKWALL, m. 1 Jan 1812, by John Mathews JP, Highland Co., OH, William 'Billy' HILL Jr., of Cedar Creek Settlement, Highland Co. 'Billy' HILL was m. 1st. to Susan EVANS. Mary relinquished her right to administer the estate of her husband in favor of Hugh HILL and Lewis DUCKWALL Jr. on 29 Oct 1829. Alexander Burtain appointed guardian of Elizabeth, age 9, and William age 2 on 20 Aug 1832. Nancy HILL 15, chose guardian Samuel DUCKWALL, on 20 Aug 1832. 242.6d John DUCKWALL, m. 21 Oct 1813, by Joseph Swearingen JP, Highland Co., OH, Elizabeth HILL, probably the daughter of William 'Billy' HILL Sr. John fought in the War of 1812, and farmed on acreage his father had bought. In 1820, there was one male under 10, 1 male over 45 (John), 2 females 10-16, and 1 female 26-45 in the household. His wife must have died prior to 1850, when John, a cripple with no occupation is living with his mother. (OHHI7, 9 p795, OHHI2, 5)

Mary 'Peggy' MOBERLY, d. 13 Jul 1828, 2 days after the birth of her dau. Susannah, d/o Reason MOBERLY, a Revolutionary War Veteran; m. 2nd. 18 Dec 1828 by George Shinn JP, Highland Co., Delilah MANKER b. 19 Mar 1802, OH, d. 12 Aug 1863, age 60y 11m 23d, Highland Co., d/o Zimri MANKER, a blacksmith and tinsmith in Hillsboro, OH; m. 3rd. 15 Oct 1863, by Henry Turner, Mrs. Sarah E. EAKIN.  He lived in Union Twp., Highland Co. In 1860 Jacob and Delilah were living in Hillsboro; there is also a Delilah listed in an infirmary in Hillsboro. Also in the household are Sarah Shannon 17, b. OH, and Joshua Leonard 23, a farm laborer, b. OH. In 1870, James Kendall 47, and Charles Gourdy 29, b. preachers are in the home. His daughters Sally and Eleanor STRAIN are buried with Jacob and Delilah in Strain Cem., Highland Co. (OHHIB6, 7, 9 p795-1796, 11, OHHIB6-8)

In 1850, they were living in Fairfield Twp., where Simon was a farmer. Simon, Elizabeth, son Lewis Marion, and 2 daughters are buried in Auburn Cem., Highland Co. (OHHIB6-7, 9 p795, OHHI5) Children:
