Dalcha Duo was formed by these two guitarists, Hardesh Singh and Az A. Samad around early January 2003. Earlier around October 2002, Az came in as a last minute session guitarist for the Viva Voce, Music Circus KL show organised by Hardesh. The show featured three wonderful vocal talents who sang original compositions written by Hardesh. In the show, Az also performed some of his solo guitar compositions.
The show, though quite a low key event, managed to get two nominations in the very first Cameronian Arts Award organised by Kakiseni.com. Hardesh was nominated for best original composition and Az was nominated for best solo performance.
It was around that time that Hardesh and Az seriously started to work on an idea that had been on their minds for quite some time which was a performance featuring them as a guitar duo act.
This idea was finally realised with their debut performance at Actor�s Studio Box, Dataran Merdeka on February 8th and 9th 2003.
The show was critically acclaimed and soon they had their second major gig which was at No Black Tie on March 12th and 13th 2003.
