4 Bad Ship Positions?

Head to Head Position
Need to research ramming possibilities of this position.
The 'T-position'
You're facing directly into the enemy's cannons. Turn left, turn right, forward, nothing.. you're still stuck. The enemy can shoot OR grapple you no matter what you do. On the plus side, if they do choose to shoot or grapple you, you can also turn and shoot or grapple them (assuming you have the moves. You can escape the grapple by ramming, but they'll still get the shot in.
The reverse 'T-position'
Ah HA! Now you've got your cannons stuck in the enemy's face. If you want a quick grapple, you're set! But uh-oh, what if you're facing imperials and haven't got a shot into them yet? You don't want to let them grapple you with just one shot.
Turn left? Into them? Then they can simply grapple you off the left side, or worse, turn left behind you and grapple off the left side

Go straight? Then they can go forward and grapple off the left side
Turn right? Then they turn left and grapple you off their right side.
Well if moving doesn't do anything, then do nothing right? No! They can ram and turn aside you and grapple.
Looks like no matter what you do you're cooked. Well you're right. You're depending on your enemy to not guess what you do. Smartly, the computer AI usually does the optimal grapple, turn left and grapple right, which works both if you turn away right, or stay still. Most players will turn left and shoot right. Because of this, against computers (when trying not to grappled,) I generally prefer the forward move.
What would you do if you were the enemy, trying to guess how we were going to move? What would I do? I would turn left and fire off both sides. Damage:
Against Left turn: 1-0 and directly behind enemy, guns ready.
Against Right turn: 1-0 and directly behind enemy, guns ready.
Against Forward: .5 - .5 and directly behind enemy, pointed in same direction.

Against stay still, Fire left: 1.5-1.5 and side by side
The extended 'T-position'
Ok, I'm running out of names. Why do I call this the extended 'T-position'? If both ships go forward 1, they form the T-position. Also, even though you can move around this time, your enemy can still hurt you no matter what you do.
Left turn: Enemy can turn left and grapple or shoot right.
Forward: Enemy can go forward and grapple or shoot. This is the worst option, since you'll be stuck in a bad position next round
Right turn: Enemy can turn left and grapple or shoot right.
Nothing: Enemy can go forward and shoot. Although this is the only position where the enemy can't grapple, they can also turn left, putting you into a head to head situation, where they can grapple you next move.

My recommendation is to do anything BUT go forward. I can't say what the typical pvp move is. It really depends on your opponent, and how they react to your moves. The typical computer move is forward and fire if you're not moving. Not sure otherwise. I try not to get into this position.
Switch positions. What do you do if you're in the superior position? Almost no one will move forward as that's the idiot's move. Your best bet is to read your enemy's move meter. If they look like they're going to move, (either have moves in their move counter, or have a habit of LSM'ing) then turn left and shoot. If they're aggressive, shoot left. Passive, shoot right. Can't tell? Shoot both sides. Shooting both sides is an extra-agressive tactic I love to use, because it'll surprise pvp enemies all the time, and is a near guarantee to hit.
