RAF MILDENHALL, SUFFOLK - AIR FETE 2001, 26TH  MAY
USAF Lockheed C-5A Galaxy
This is a large US Air Force transport aircraft which brought in the burgers and beers for the show days.
Note the lack of spectators (I timed this one just right!)
.
US Navy Boeing E-6B Mercury
This aircraft, in its rather fetching overall white colour scheme is used as a communications relay aircraft for nuclear submarines
Note presence of spectators in large amounts. They are a pain in the backside, but you can't have
everything your own way!
USAF Douglas C-9 Nightingale
This military version of the civilian DC-9 is used for the aeromedical evacuation role, ferrying injured personnel from facility to facility.

Note once again the absence of spectators, which required a wait of around 10 minutes.
USAF Boeing C-17 Globemaster III
This large transport aircraft is the replacement for the C141 Starlifter shown below. The aircraft has also recently entered service with the RAF.
This photo was taken during the flying display, as the aircraft taxied to its takeoff point.
USAF Lockheed C-141 Starlifter
This aircraft was once  the backbone of the USAF heavy lifter fleet. The fleet is currently in the process of being retired.

Apologies for the poor quality of the photo, it was taken on the premise that '
any photo is better than no photo''.
