I remember when Kurt killed himself. I was in the music store with my friends when one of my other friends showed up later and told us. I wasn't so surprised since a few months earlier I heard he had overdosed on heroin and was in the hospital. I wasn't really upset, at first it didn't even phase me. But I think about it now and I wish he was still around because I would really have liked to hear more Nirvana.
One thing I have which is kind of interesting is that one day I was checking out my brothers music collection and I came across an unmarked cassette. When I listened to it I was surprised. My brother had recorded the radio broadcast the day that they found out Kurt Cobain had died. It had people calling in saying how sad and angry they were. The radio announcer made a joke after they played "Come as you are" at the part where Kurt says "I don't have a gun". The announcers said "Well it looks like Kurt did have a gun after all because he was found dead today at his home..."
Eventually I'll put some of it up when I can do a tape transfer to CD.
Nirvana Update September 2002 -
I was quite happy to hear about a new song called You Know You're Right which is going to be released on a best of Nirvana CD at the end of the year. Of course its been leaked online and its pretty easy to get if you want to hear it now. I think its an awesome song and its definately studio quality. Its not a bootleg like a lot of other Nirvana. I also read that the guitarist for Hole found tapes of other tunes Kurt made, over 100 songs I believe. But we may never hear them because of the legal issues with the former band members and Courtney Love.

I found out something kind of funny. Originally there was a band from the UK called Nirvana that were around in the late 60's all the way to the late 90's and possibly into 2000. I haven't heard any of their stuff, I'm not really interested in hearing it aside from that they did a cover on one of their albums of Nirvana's Lithium. So Nirvana did a cover song of Nirvana.
