Perhaps Nirvana's intention with this album was to lose a lot of their fans. This album wasn't as commercial and bright sounding as Nevermind was. It was more raw and some of the songs on it were very heavy accompanied by Kurts screaming and the drums were quite pronounced and very clear in the mix.

However when I went to get this album I got it the day it was released and I wasn't disappointed at all. I think that In Utero is the best album that they released. A lot of fans say Bleach is their best work, critics like Nevermind, but there are still lots who believe In Utero is their best. Of course everyone is their own critic. I still think all their releases are amazing but this one is the best. I think its because I like all the screaming, the fast pace of most of the songs and the instruments are loud. My favorite song is Scentless Apprentice.
