| Singe made his way up the road, aiming to his home. Moms gonna wonder how I got stabbed, he thought to himself. Better think of a lie. I cant tell her my friend did or hello home-school As he moved around the corner, within sight of his house, he noticed a crowd had gathered. As he looked up at his house, he dropped the sword in his hand and almost fell down. It had been burned. It appeared as though the fire had just been put out. Chunks of wood had fallen, scorched metal decorated the yard. He quickly picked up his sword and dashed to his house. As he approached, a female magician stepped through the crowd and looked at him. Was this your house? She questioned. Some magicians were firefighters, using their water and ice spells to put the blazes out. Yeah! What the hell happened?! Is my mom and dad ok?! The woman remained quiet for a second. I Im sorry. We found two bodies, but they were too badly burned to determine who they were. Singe shook his head, in mad disbelief. No No I He struggled to speak, but nothing could come out. We believe that this burning was intentional. The fire was not natural. It was created. Though We did find something you might be interested in. Please come with me. He quietly followed her, trying to make himself believe it was all a dream all a dream The lady stopped by another magician. After a small conversation, she pulled out a small box with a key. We didnt open it. We were hoping you would come home soon. It was hidden in one of the rooms. She looked at him. He was devastated, but there was not much she could do. Alright Thank you. He took it and walked away from her, and found a spot to sit on in the grass. He opened the box and looked in. Whatever it was, it didnt matter. He looked inside. Within the box was a piece of paper, and a small bag. He opened the paper. Psh. Probably a love letter to one of them. His eyes scanned over the paper and his eyes went wide. Definitely not a love letter. To our son Singe, may he ever find it. We pray you find this letter if we ever pass away. If we have died and you are reading this letter, it was not natural. Your mother and I have kept a big secret from you, but it was for you own good. Let me start from the beginning. A long time ago, an evil creature had ravaged the Earth, killing all that opposed him. It was extremely powerful and violent. No one could stop its destruction. A select few gathered to discuss how we were going to destroy it. It had all seemed hopeless. But there was something about these men. They had powers. Powers of the gods. No one knew where they came from. These men banished the creature to another dimension. But the creatures minions had stayed. They killed the men, but they did not realize that the men had children of their own. And theyd kill the child, but they had children of their own by then. This kept going, for generations. The child would be protected until he grew up, but the same thing would happen over and over. Recently however, there has been a leak. The creature has been able to slip out after acquiring enough energy, but only for a short amount of time. With the presence of at least one family member still alive, it would hinder him greatly. Once there are no more, he will escape easily. The men that trapped him were known as the Lords of Blades My son You are now one of the Lords. And you are the only living family member of those men. Please Be safe and put a stop to these demons The Earth begs you. Singe stared at the letter in disbelief. No way Wow, imagine if Silvanus had killed him. He set the note down and opened the pouch. Enclosed was many gold coins They were saving this for him. He sat there and thought ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rosa, Laine, and Silvanus listened to Suvis story. During the story, they had introduced each other. Silvanus still eyed her with distrust. She was a human. He couldnt help it. Rosa, even though she was an elf too, trusted people a bit more than her brother. Laine was Rosas best friend, so Silvanus grew to trust her. Suvi looked down after he story. Im sorry I had to bother you with such ramble. In Suvis mind, everything she did was worthless. Rosa smiled. Oh, dont say that. We dont mind hearing about our new group member! She had said that to make Suvi feel a bit better about herself. Just to boost her self-esteem. Silvanus looked at her questioningly, wondering what made her say that. Laine just smiled. Suvi looked at Rosa, shocked. N-new what? She didnt understand. Rosa thought. Well, theres me, my brother, Laine, and Singe. So, you can be one of us, too! Silvanus didnt trust what Rosa was doing. Are you sure thats a good thing? Rosa shot her brother a glance. Be quiet. Laine smiled at Suvi. Itll be fun! We always needed one more person for our table. She looked at the round table. Five would fit perfectly. Suvi was quiet Why were they being so nice to her? She sighed. Maybe the company of people would do a little good. She finally nodded. Ok. Ill join. She smiled. It was the first time any of them saw her smile. Rosa almost jumped. Goodie! Hey, lets go over to Singes house and bug him for a little while. Laine laughed. Havent we bugged him enough just by dragging him around? Nope. Rosa grinned as she said it. Silvanus looked at her, eyebrow raised. Singe was their friend, but she seemed to always want to hang out with him. She hid it well, though he was her older brother. She could sense how she felt. He sighed and let it go. Rosa looked up at him, hearing him sigh. Is something wrong? He shook his head. No. Nothings wrong. Rosa watched him for a moment more, then stood up. Should we go? Laine laughed. Sure, Rosie! Rosa blushed for a minute. It was her nickname. She could not help that, but she was always embarrassed when she was called that. She smiled at Laine and walked out. The sun was beginning to set already Oh well, she thought. She turned and saw the other people getting up and following her. She smiled and walked along the piers, wondering what Singe was up to. Laine whispered to Silvanus. Wonder why shes so eager to go She giggled. Silvanus said nothing as they walked. Rosa turned around, still smiling. Did ja say somethin? Laine shook her head. Rosa turned her eyes back to the ground before her and continued her walk. Laine wasnt completely sure why Rosa wanted to go so eagerly. Even deep in Rosas mind, she didnt know either. All she knew was that she enjoyed being in his presence |
