As the brochure states . . . . "You'll want to spend a lot of time driving the Satria GTi . . . This is without a doubt an enthusiasts car." . . . I can say that the GTi has a very high grin factor. It's also about the closest I'm likely to come to owning a Lotus. From the moment you slide into the Recaro seat and grip the leather bound steering wheel, there is an overwhelming urge to drive hard.
And I am not alone.
At a Proton cruise, thirty-five GTi owners expressed their enjoyment by participating in a fantastic display of low level 'formation flying' on a well known twisty bit of asphalt north of Sydney. And, judging by the looks we received, it was a spectacular site for anyone we happened to pass by. You ain't seen nothin' until you've been buzzed by a flock of quicksilver GTi's out cruisin'.
